One of my favorite beats, the water levels were very good. Nice fish mostly taken on nymphs, with lots of olives, some grannom and a few march browns around, though not many fish rising. Lovely day, very slippery tough wading .

Maybe not the best fishing conditions today, warm and bright, but still good to get out. 4 trout to 13" and as many lost. Continual hatch of Grannon most of the day with a few ldos and March browns, but fish reluctant to rise in bright conditions. All fish taken early on with weighted caddis pattern.

A lovely day on this beautiful beat but, alas, no trout to the net! Lost a few to a deep nymph, including one very aggressive take which, embarrassingly, broke me off.

Plenty of fly life about but did not see a rise all day. Maybe this was down to the very bright weather?

LDO's coming off throughout the middle of the day but generally, not attracting much interest. The hatch increased around 1pm and fish began showing. Had 3 fish up to 1lb 2oz in 15 minutes on small olive CDC emerger pattern. Then all went quiet. Although a steady but small hatch continued no fish were rising and no offers received.

River fining down after flood. Warm day, perfect for a hatch. Short hatch of march browns and ldo. Fish did not rise to them! Had few on the nymphs.

Fishing was very average on the allowed beat, I could see many fish rising above and below the beat limits which suggests there's too much pressure on this beat. A little Disappointed.

WUF note: Angler numbers at Fenni Fach and other Passport beats are carefully managed to ensure they not over-pressurised. Only 5 anglers had fished the 1.5 mile stretch in the 23 days since the season start prior to this visit. More fish observed rising on adjoining beats could not therefore be due to “too much pressure” at Fenni Fach.
