Lovely days fishing on this beautiful beat of the Usk although not many fish caught what we did catch were hard fighting and in good condition. We will be back to this beat.

2 Trout

Caught two trout to 10" on an olive emerger; lost a few more. Plenty of fly life and lots of fish rising. Also plenty of rain and wind resulting in a few tangles. Saw a family of 3 otters swimming up stream. Nice beat but the wading was tricky.

2 Trout

River was low and clear with very littlem in the way of hatches. Dry fly was used throughout the day, only targeting rising fish of which there were few, due to very little fly coming off.
All trout were just under 1lb the best being 15oz and the smallest 12oz. All fish weighed in a Mclean weigh net.

6 Trout

No fish on this occasion

A lovely day to fish warm-ish with some humidity and occasional cloud. Mayfly were present and i hooked a few trout - although failed to land most.... Many grayling were rising, but could get a take. No sign of salmon but a wonderful beat to patrol.
Between the first parking space and second, there are a lot of holes in the track. I deliberately took a car with higher ground clearance. I suggest you do the same! Perhaps the owner could repair some of them..
(WUF comment: unlikely to be grayling on the Usk)

Enjoyable days fishing, only fell in once. Small hatch in the am which slowed by 11.30am but a slight rise in levels and a bit of colour helped the nymph fishing. All fish released best 1 1/4lb.

All fish returned.

3 Trout

Cold easterly wind limited trout activity. A few rising from time to time, but not consistently. Lots of insect life.
Tried wets and dry flies to tempt them, but only 1 missed take all day between the 3 of us. Just couldn't find the right fly.

Fish were very easy to spook, but rising periodically for tiny olives. Sunny and very clear water. Beautiful beat!

1 Trout

River at 0.3 on the Brecon gauge, wet windy morning, strong downstream gusts, olives coming off in the morning up till around 2pm. A few rising fish seen, 7 trout caught on klink and dink all released, best around 12 inches.
Saw an Otter on the bank behind me.
