Bright day, low water and only a few small trout but a very pretty location and will be heading back when conditions improve.

A beautiful sunny day on the river lovely beat to fish. Unfortunately the water level was rather low and water was very clear. Started fishing at Sennybridge and made our way down to the end of the beat. We had no luck on the top part of the river and did not see any fish rising at all. When we got down to the small waterfall I hooked a small brown trout about 6 ounces which I returned. Apart from this did not catch anything although we did see quite a few fish rising in the pools above and below the waterfalls. We also saw lots of small hatchlings in these pools as well.
Apart from this a great day out and a good walk along the river banks which have been kept in good condition.
Look forward to fishing this beat again when the water level is slightly higher up.

Got one of about a pound late evening, then lost a big one (broke me - incompetence). Plenty of good fish and evening fly (caddis, stoneflies, small 'crippled' mayflies especially) around, though trout both shy and finnicky.

10 trout 6-10", no larger fish seen. Fishing klink and dink 75% took the nymph. Don't ignore the feeder streams. Late rise to small sherry spinners hatch and spent. Beautiful location.

Started late in the afternoon. 10 trout ranging from 8" to 15" all in excellent condition. All fish taken on a prince nymph fished under a caddis pattern.

The rougher runs were fished with nymphs and produced most of the trout. Two good fish were caught on a small olive dry, they measured 28cm and 35cm.
The evening rise was eagerly awaited and started around 9.35pm. Unfortunately it lasted for only about five minutes. This was the same throughout the stretch!

A slow day with very little moving. The fresh downstream breeze not helping matters.
I caught a few small fish on a variety of nymphs but the only fish worthy of mention was a 1lber caught behind the waterfall near the iron ladder.
Fished the lower beat 9am - 1pm then moved location to the top beat. Had a look at conditions but decided against getting my rod back out.
All fish returned to the river safely.

Difficult access to water in parts. Long uphill walk back from midpoint access. A local reported three families of goosander taking fish here.

Well I've finally cracked it on this beat. After three years of indifferent sessions I finally had a great day with some fantastic sport. Never in doubt about the scenery on this beat I did have my reservations about the trout population though. Well it was all put right today, especially the two crackers of 19.5 inches and 17.5 inches and the bigger "one that got away" that leaped three times prior to throwing the hook. Most fish caught on hares ear nymphs and a few on olive nymphs with the duo. Good hatch of brook duns and a few mayflies but only a few fish showing interest in them. Great day that has reinstalled my confidence in this beat.
NB. Picture of the bigger fish will be downloaded WUF's 'The Fishing Passport' Facebook page.
