5 trout (max 13inch) and 4 grayling (max 12 inch) caught and returned unharmed. The weather was warm, sunny and clear but with an annoying upstream breeze slowing down the hatch. Late afternoon saw a number of sedge on the water, prompting a small rise but most of the day we were fishing blind - mainly on dry fly but occasionally on small pt nymphs. Despite the lack of natural fly life the fish responded mainly to dry fly.
The river was very low, a common theme so far this season.

6 Trout to 8", 2 x OOS Grayling to 14" all safely returned.
Hard going in a cold downstream wind most of the day, overcast but (thankfully) dry. Very nice beat with an excellent mix of water. Sparse and intermittent surface activity, probably many more fish available to nymphing (especially around the broken water through Cilau and above the spout) but I chose to stay with dries. Evening 'hatch' of sorts around 7-7.30 but nothing substantial and nothing took much notice of it. A few smallish Salmon leaping about in Armies pool and below the Backawy junction.

Quite a good day despite a difficult and cold breeze. Good hatches throughout the day and a decent spinner fall in the evening. 3 WBT to 10 inches on GRHE. 4 out-of-season Grayling to 12 inches, taking LT Caddis klink and GRHE. Many many missed takes, particluarly to parachute adams. All fish returned safely.

I tried to vary my tactics and locations in a bid to avoid catching Grayling, but there are so may of them on this beat it was impossible to avoid them. This must be a great beat for the Grayling season.

Stunning beat with good parking and access to the river.
Decent olive hatch pretty much throughout the day along with sherry spinners and a trickle of Mayfly.
Concentrated on the top half of the beat in the faster water. Managed 5 wbt on olive nymphs, best a really handsome 12" fish. All returned safely.

Stayed at the Coach House in Brecon which deserves a mention for a memorable cooked breakfast!

An absolutely lovely day fishing. The river was low and there was a few rain showers throughout the day. My friend caught a fish on his third cast and it carried on in fits and starts throughout the day. In total we caught around 40 fish between us up to 3/4lb on small gold headed nymphs fished across and down, dry flies fish upstream and spiders fished in an escalator fashion. Absolutely lovely day, even caught some fish in the slow water towards the end of the beat. Shall definitely be back!

Weather o/c and breezy. Had 4 small trout and 1 salmon parr on PTN and klinkhammer. Then good size OOS grayling on the klinkhammer. Plenty of mayfly activity but little action from the fish. Late on had a nice brownie on spent mayfly. Next day with similar conditions had 7 small (8"), 4 midsize (10"-14") and 2 grayling, all on klinkhammer.

Bright sunshine, cold gusty northwind, cold enough to need a wading jacket on. The pool at the bottom of the gravel run was sheltered and I landed a 10inch out of season Grayling and lost a decent size trout, all caught on a GRHE. I nymphed my way up the gravelly run, into the wind, without any success, although I spent more time untangling my line than I did fishing. Moved further down stream sun was getting brighter, wind was getting stronger, not a fish showing anywhere or interested in anything I was offering.

Reality over came my powers of self-delusion and I realised I wasn't enjoying myself, so I packed up and went to the Griffin to read the paper and have a couple of pints.

Not a good season for me so far.

Blustery and drizzly with low water conditions. Very little rising all day but caught 3 nice trout with largest at 1.25lb. All caught on a iron blue dun. Beautiful part of the river to spend the day on, with plenty of water variety, ideal for a novice like me.
