River running gin clear at a good level and looking very fishy, however, we worked hard all day using nymph's and klinkhammer's for no reward. DC disturbed five cormarant at the gravel run and GC saw a Salmon leap at the top pool.
Same friendly service as always from the Wye and Usk office.
Still a lovely day out in stunning surroundings.

A good day, there is plenty of fishing on this beat and the long runs seemed to hold the fish. Heavy nymphs did the job.
Best Grayling was about 1 3/4 pound.

1 x grayling 13 inches, 7 x out of season trout 8-12 inches, leaded wet flies and bugs. We struggled to find the grayling I'm afraid, although what looked like post-spawning trout were very much in evidence. Nothing really wrong with the water or conditions. One coloured salmon showing.

One grayling and one trout caught on heavy nymph. River high so only possible to fish the calmer runs. Little wind a bright sun made for a pleasant day on the water. Thank you WUF.

Found the river at just about a fishable level after the recent high water but quite cold. Fished weighted nymphs all day and caught just three small WBT for our efforts. It was NB's first session with upstream nymphs and he hooked and missed several.

River levels too high after recent heavy rain. Even though the level had fallen during the day, no signs of fish anywhere on the beat.

Heavy overnight rain had caused the Clettwr to colour up the lodge side of the river, reducing visibility to about 6 inches in the water. There was also a heavy leaf fall and the occasional branch coming downstream as well. I gave it a go but with no joy. Beautiful spot though.

Another good day on this beat, even though the river was up after the recent rain and carrying a touch of colour. The fish (all returned) are still taking dry flies as long as the weather remains warm. The grayling didn't put in much of a show but the trout were willing. Nothing of great size - up to 12" but still fighting fit and good sport. The morning was somewhat spoilt by the appearance of canoes - I didn't think they were allowed above Hay, whatever the level?
