2 small about half pound caught and released on sinking line with wet flies near the bottom of the river. River in good condition and lovely surroundings.

Lots of flies, but no fish activity on the surface, except one at the upper end of the beat, lost 1 on a small Adams. Tried nymphs as well. Fished from 2pm- 4pm only.

Due to commitments I only managed two hours, one of which was spent walking the beat, the other fishing. The majority of the water is fast - in places looked more suitable for canoeing than fishing, on the day I was there. I eventually found a nice spot nearer to the bottom end of the beat where the success of another angler promoted me to have a go with a Czech nymph - which worked.

River was in great condition after the week's earlier rain. All fish caught on heavy nymphs using a variety of methods (duo, Czech), with best pushing 1lb and the rest in the 1/2 - 3/4lb range. Bulk of fish caught in an hour between 11-12. All fish were immaculate and returned safely to fight another day.

Word of warming on this beat - wading is tough. Wouldn't want to fish this with a decent flow pushing through!

A final comment to say that our experience was enhanced by Chris Price from Casting With Style...his expertise in guiding us over the day was invaluable, and the skills and watercraft taught to us will be life long skills that we can utilise on our home waters. I can't recommend him enough.

Wonderful day on this beautiful beat. All trout taken on the nymph (PTN). Some lovely fish rising under the trees in the flats at the top of the beat but couldn't get near them with a dry fly. Abundance of fly life including quite a few Yellow Mays.
Managed to fall in twice despite felt-soled boots and wading staff!! Wading difficulty not to be underestimated on this beat.
Well done WUF, thank you.

Blustery showery day with little hatching. Both (small) trout caught on nymphs.

A lovely spot to fish that just seems as though it ought to be teeming with fish. A bright but cool day that despite half term had kept the bathers away so I had the place to myself. Cool and overcast in the afternoon. Huge amounts of fly life all day - olives through to mayfly - but next to no action on the surface. Fished most of the day using the duo up through the pocket water and the faster deeper pools. With more confidence in European techniques I think you could take a lot of fish here. As I was, I was happy with my 2. Both on small weighted PTN variations.

Very little sign of life despite clouds of fly-life hatching. Water conditions very good and no bother with wind, which appears to have been the norm of late. We managed only one fish between us but it was a cracker: a large WBT probably of the order of 18" long. Well done CB! We will of course go back to this great stretch of water.

This is a lovely and varied stretch of water and with abundant fly life - I was hoping for a frenetic day of dry fly fishing - alas not. There were sporadic rises between 11 and 5 when I packed up. In the end I resorted to fishing a 'klink and dink' and picked up 4 fish on the nymph; one to 14 inches.
