A most frustrating day. Plenty of fish rising but not to anything I could offer, and I offered pretty much everything over the space of 4-5 hours. Still, always a pleasure to fish this lovely stretch of water. Will be back.

River very low, initially warm and overcast then too hot for comfort in the afternoon! Not big on insect life yet but there were clouds of pale jobs with twin tails as day progressed and later also very small buzzy stuff. A better man would have caught more but these (10") trout were fat and fit, so happy. Caught on small cdc type dry flies. Clear and low, fish easily spooked, so go light. Have not got to grips with nymphing yet, hence reliance on dries. An otter was bumbling in bushes. My first river like this, lots to learn as on balance, the river won. Will be back tho....

Very clear water, on a cloudy day with sunny spells.
Good beat, very scenic, some fish rising one of which I managed to get! Good access to the water but parking is a bit on an issue, there were a few walkers with over exited dogs but on the whole it was quiet, however I have a feeling that this beat would be busy during the holiday season or Bank holidays.
Back to the fishing, 1 small trout caught on a Klinkhammer, tried Klink n dink, and north country spiders.

River was falling after a rise, was still quite coloured, which made wading a little more difficult. Tried, floating, intermediate and sinking tips with a variety of flies. Also fished downstream and across spinner, again with a variety of lures.
Saw plenty of trout, also saw an Otter whilst fishing the Hut pool.
Lovely stretch, good access, will return for another go, maybe take the trout rods next time too.

Raise in river levels very welcome, with trout responding well to nymph.

River was a little clouded and was pretty rainy. There was a small rise of fish. Both fish caught on upstream nymph. (Pheasant tail size 16).

A good afternoon and evenings fishing. Intermittent and strong hatches of caddis and small upswings. Fish (10" to 14") caught on cdc emerger and late evening small f-fly.
