Arrived about 10 ish, one salmon fisherman in action, at lunchtime he left and two more salmon anglers arrived, later in the afternoon another course angler arrived and then two men collected their pedalo (Yes I really mean in Pedalo!) from the bank and pedalled up stream. Quite a busy day. On the fishing side of things I caught 4 Chub, all good fish but not a sight or smell of the Barbel.
Thanks to WUF however for the beats that we can all choose.

This was a trip to take my daughter fishing, we like this beat as it has very good bank access and I can usually find the fish quite quickly. Had not been on the beat an hour when I took a 10lb cock salmon on a green highlander, expertly netted by my daughter. She has watched me throw a line few times this summer without sucess so I was over the moon to be able to share this moment with her. Then we turned to the barbel, my daughter landing a nice fish on her own with me at the net this time, there was even someone on hand to photograph us with her fish. We ended up with half a dozen and could have kept going; fishing does not come much better than this!

The last day of our 5 day trip was spent in familiar territory with very blustery weather. During the day, we tried swims up river and had a few barbel to 6lbs 10oz and a half dozen chub to 4lbs 8oz, all on pellet. For the evening we set up in the pylon swim hoping for a final rush of barbel but they decided to be very cagey and we had to be content with three to 6lbs 2oz between us. By 7pm it died completely so we packed up for the trip home. Thanks to WUF and staff for a very enjoyable week.

Perfect day, fished a windless sunny morning downsteam opposite the pylon. Barbel every where, caught eight fish on meat to 7lbs between 8am and 10am which is a personal best for me. Track not a problem. Thanks WUF.

Nice and bright day. Very easy access and you can fish this beat along the whole stretch. An Eel in the morning and a few fish missed. There was another angler on this beat but maybe he wasn't catching either as he left fairly early. The middle part of the day was extremely slow maybe because of the lack of cover on the bank. My friend who came along to shoot some pictures had a field day tho with some cracking shots of the swanns who kept us entertained most of the day. Come 5 o'clock the fishing instantly picked up and 3 decent sized Chub were landed followed by a 7.8lbs Barbel. Note: The Barbel had someone else's tackle still attached in its mouth which I removed. I'd wish people would stop using barbed hooks as it is clearly not necessary to use them. Anyway apart from that the fish were all in excellent condition. I finished with another Chub before sunset as we had to travel back to Bristol for other arrangements. Thank WUF.

2 Barbel caught and 2 slipped the hook. Not as productive as previous visits to this stretch but an ejoyable day nevertheless. Usual feeder and pellet tactics used.

Caught 2 chub on luncheon meat and 1 barbel of 5lbs on pellets. Lost another 3 barbel due to the sharp rocks snagging line during fight but a very pleasant day had again on a beautiful stretch of river and managed to get the car down to the river bank which saved a bit of a walk, though car grounded whilst joining the main road as very steep slope at gate, hopefully exhaust survived !!

Fished on my own (Dad couldn't make it) and had another excellent day. Started at the bottom of the beat (just before the mouth of the Lugg) and had half a dozen chub and two decent barbel before the swim went quiet. Took the advice of a very kind gentleman on the opposite bank and made a move and hit the jackpot! Non stop barbel of all sizes and a few chub for the next 4-5 hours. All fish caught on elipse pellets, very little success with the larger sizes, but 2x8ml glued to a hair rig with micro pellets in the feeder did the trick! Now I know where the 'hot spot' is I will be back very soon!
