River was over the bank down the bottom of the beat so was very difficult to find any slack water, needless to say we struggled and lost loads of tackle, others were eels...

Arrived to a raging river almost in flood, the Island towards the lower end of the beat was completely under water. We couldn't find a swim with enough slack to make fishing a possibility. We tried for two hours but conditions were only getting worse so we called it a day. This is the first time in 12 years we have been beaten by the conditions, so not a regular occurrence, three blanks for us, which again is a first in 12 years.

The river was quite high and pushing through. Many of the swims were under water. I did find a good a swim with some slackish water and was able to get the brolly up before the rain started. I fished quite smelly baits like garlic meat and was rewarded with 5 Chub and 2 Barbel. A successful day considering the conditions.

The river was carrying about 1.5meters and starting to rise a little in the afternoon. 8 chub and 2 barbel all caught on feeder and meat. Chub were in the 2 1/2 to 4 1/2 lb region. Barbel were 8lb 2 oz and 11lb 5 oz.
Stunning beat, but travel light as there is a walk from car park to furthest pegs.
