A chub day!! Most fish caught on meat, bread & corn. Plenty of chub over 4lb with 4lb 8oz the biggest, while the majority were all over 3lb. A mixture of ledgering and float, but by mid afternoon I longed to catch anything but another chub.
Always a pleasant beat and chatted to very nice brothers who were fishing the stretch too.

We travelled to the Wye over the weekend with rivers closed and everything in the balance until Monday when we received the brilliant news that the river had re-opened.
A respectful approach was employed and how the beat performed with Chub coming from start to finish mostly in the 3lb-4lb range and a couple tipping up from there. All fish handed out and returned with minimum fuss. One barbel made an appearance, circa 6-7lbs, which provided a moment of variety in the day. Float fished bread, meat and corn did the trick for the chub with the barbel falling for a Krill Wafter stuck to a method feeder. Great days fishing.

HL3 NEVER EVER DISSAPOINTS even in a heatwave and a very low river. OK only 1 barbel today but I only fished for them on a feeder for the 1st hour before the sun came out. The barbel must be outnumbered by 100 to 1 so out went the float and it was crazy fishing until I'd had enough by 11am. BUT quite a few chub had some sort of parasite / leeches which I removed and the river had a strange brown sediment which covered the stones in the margin and my landing net which I only used on the barbel. All the chub were unhooked in the water and swam off strongly after holding them in the current for a few seconds to recover. Interesting to hear from one canoeist that had hadn't seen any significant weed as he went by!! Cheers WUF
PS other Dace.

Great days fishing for both of us. Every fish was a chub and all caught on the float.
