First time fishing this beat so we were not quite sure what to expect. The conditions were windy and overcast. We made for the end of the beat but my companion fished about 3/4's of the way down while I went on further. A long walk and not for the faint hearted. Travel light. We both caught fish immediately on feeder tactics and the fish fed all day with just a quiet spell here and there. The Barbel ranged from 2lbs up to the 2 best fish of just over 9lb's. Most of the Chub were between 3 and 5 pounds with the best one 5 pounds 2 ounces.
A brilliant days fishing in a beautiful place. I would have loved to have fished with the Stick and Pin but needed to wade and my chest waders had sprung a leak.
Will definitely be back.

River a little on low side due to lack of rain in catchment area. Most of the anglers fished feeder in the middle of the river or towards near edge. Three out of four anglers blanked and had 1 bite between them. The fourth angler managed two chub, approximately 2lb and 2.5lbs. Both these fish fell to luncheon meat, one to a size 16 hook attached to a 50grm open ended, small swim feeder. (The leader was 3 feet long) After missing a couple of bites, a twenty pence size piece of luncheon meat was trotted down on a stick float resulting in the 2nd chub. Both fish were in pristine condition and were caught about 1/3 of the way across the river near a crease. The fishery itself was in pristine condition, easy access with relatively gentle slopes; and even the grass had been cut along the path which was appreciated. Great day even though the fishing was very hard.

Another lovely day at Holme Lacy. Lots of snagging up but common theme on the Wye. All fish mint condition. Best Babel 8lb, Chub 5lb, no Chub under 4lb and mouths you could fit a tennis ball in. Good chat with Colin as usual.

We appreciated that we were making the most of the superb autumn weather by fishing on the Wye and catching 6 barbel to 7lb 12oz and 11 chub from the lower end of the beat was a bonus. River getting very low and in need of rain, how's that for spoiling things?

Fantastic day all round. Caught fish steadily all day, fishing feeder tactics with luncheon meat and boilies. All the fish were in perfect condition and returned safely, with the chub averaging 2-3lb and the barbel around the 5lb mark.
The river was running at a normal level I believe and had a bit of colour to it. A fresh, chilly start but bright sun nearly all day with cloudy intervals before finally packed up as the sun set. We met the bailiff as we left, who took the time to ask how we got on and had chat, top bloke. Great stretch of the Wye. Can't wait to get booked up again.

A tricky day with a rising river and loads of floating weed and debris making fishing in the flow near impossible. Even so, a great day out as it always is on the Wye.

River in nice condition, slightly up. I arrived too late to get my first choice swim, but did manage to find somewhere by the moored rowing boat where a few chub were biting off and on through the day, to pellet and ground bait feeder. The best chub was about five pounds, and in really excellent condition. Nice to meet up with Colin again.
