River in flood so a difficult day. Bottom end of the beat at the beach was under water so fished off the only exposed croy at the top end.

The river was about 1.2m up and coloured. We fished a variety of swims during the day and had some Chub and my fishing pal had one Barbel. This is a lovely beat and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves; even the rain held off! Thanks W&UF.

1.5m up and no beach at the lower end was visible. Fished as many pegs as we could from the last swim upto the bridge with standard feeder tactics for no bites/takes for either of us.
Moved to croys late afternoon and no bites there either. River/conditions looked perfect. We either didnt find them or the Barbel/Chub, and even the eels, where having a day off!
Will be back to try and crack this beat.

Torrential rain the previous day and overnight (coupled with the opening of a dam in Wales) presented a river with a height and flow of Biblical proportions which even Noah would have found challenging. It had burst its bank at the bottom end of the beat with the field partly flooded but managed to find a single 100 yard stretch which was just fishable in the margin. The rest of the beat was totally unfishable. Managed to land 8 chub all on meat/meat pellet on the feeder.
Despite the rain very much liked the ease of access to this beat and the ability to drive its entire length.

Wet day, had to go to far down river end of beat to be able to access the water (one member of party disabled) We obviously got it wrong but thought this was a much more easily accessed fishery than it turned out to be.

Despite the bright conditions, a low, gin clear river and guest appearances from the supporting cast from Rawhide I still had a stonking day on Caradoc yesterday.
All of the fish coming from the pretty bottom end, either in the morning or late afternoon. Starting early, I broke up my day by having a very civilised leftover prawn and spinach balti in the sunshine and a lovely chat with a delightful lady who had just completed her wild swim -something she does every day. She politely declined my offer of a bit of prawn balti on a homemade naan, and also wasn't keen on my request to go back in to find the two £5 Korum feeders I'd just lost.
Best fish of the day was a cracking barbel of around 7 lb on rolling meat - nothing beats being up to your nut sack in the water catching one of these pouty bewts.
Nice to meet Wally and Mike who were braver than me, setting up in what was obviously the herds favourite place to poo and wee.
