Same pattern as previous day, this time 3 barbel to 6.5lb in the late evening.

3 Barbel

Morning produced a few average size chub, but as expected no barbel in the bright weather conditions. Returning in the evening after 6pm produced 4 barbel up to 7lb-13oz on pellets.

4 Barbel, 4 Chub

Stunning venue and great access. Fishing was hard though with just 2 barbel and 8 chub. Very hot though. I think it would pay to move around a fair bit to find the fish.

2 Barbel, 8 Chub

A very bright sunny day and as expected no sign of barbel feeding, with 6 chub caught in the morning. Later in the evening, 2 barbel to 7lb plus concluded the day nicely.

Interesting day resulting in 5 barbel to 8lb 15oz and 8 chub, all caught on pellets. Initial impression is the fish are distributed throughout the stretch, as above results came from a number of different swims.

5 Barbel, 8 Chub

Nice stretch of river, my main grumble would be lack of swims in the mid section. I wouldn't recommend this beat to older or solitary angler due to the steep banks. Lots of anglers on the opposite bank but then it was the first day of the season. Not sure if the beat is worth £45 per rod. Pellet feeder worked best, moved every hour or so and caught the barbel by the foot bridge.

1 Barbel, 6 Chub

Hard fishing with little happening. Managed 4 chub and an eel and at the end of play a beautiful barbel rattling the scales near 10lb, all caught on pellet.

Was supposed to fish at Bigsweir but water was pretty coloured. Moved up to Caradoc. Water there was pretty coloured too but a good height and so fished the fly. Saw one fish move at the bottom of Poulson but no takes. Fished off the croys by the hut but didn't see anything. Left one chap to spin it and went onto the Usk and Newbridge on Usk.

16lb hen fish caught by Geraldine Gaffney at 12.15 from top croy at the hut on an orange FC. Excellent condition. Returned safely. This was Geraldine's first Wye salmon!
River in good order. Very little canoe traffic but plenty of spectators above the footbridge!
