I was shocked by the state of the river. It has deteriorated drastically since I last saw it 4 years ago. The bed is now covered with slime and filamentous algae. The back eddies stink of dairy slurry. This is a dying river. We should all support the Wye and Usk Foundation as it seeks to protect our beautiful rivers from diffuse and acute pollution.
A few splashy rises to a size 16 soft hackle, but with one exception they were reluctant to connect.

Very helpful woman at the old mill, nice venue, access can be difficult in places, but entry posts are very good and the sections you can access were very well done by owner.

No action at all. Clear water but couldn't see anything. Nothing. Not even minnows!

Somewhat quiet on the fish front. A bit more clearance is needed so you can more easily get access. Also a sign where to park would be helpful. However it's a beautiful stretch.

I had an early morning session and the evening session. Despite the perfect warm overcast still day there was very limited fly life. One or two emerging. I saw only one fish rise and another leap, both trout.
Had three trout on the nymph one 6" and two 2"
The whole section was well marked with yellow posts and the map was absolutely accurate on the wading and too deep to wade sections. It's a pretty section and once in the river the casting is pretty easy with a small rod (8' #4 was perfect). It's still callenging to get to the river in most places .... but well worth it as it is a stunning variety of quite glides, pools, riffles and weirs. Enjoy.

Very disappointing! What could be a fantastic stretch is spoilt by impossible fishing on most of the river. Access all along the river is overgrown and very limited points to get down to the river. Location is fantastic but I wouldn't make plans to travel again for this when my local ‘free’ river offers more.
