4 x trout 10-18 inches. Another cold start and again the cold downstream wind. Will it ever stop? Actually a difficult day with few fish rising, although olive uprights and various other insects were about. What made it all worth while was a super hen trout of 18 inches which took a size 16 Deer Hair Sedge. It was a lovely looking thing, the best I can remember from this beat, and made some very determined attempts to get me into the alder roots before I netted it. This fish would have made a lovely photograph. However, measured it in the net, got the hook out, lifted it slightly while I brought the camera up to take the shot, upon which it suddenly jack-knifed on my hand and was gone. I can see some friends of mine are going to rib me about this. No really chaps, you should have seen it.... Nice chat with another rod from Oxford who was surprised to catch a large chub.

Beautiful day but difficult fishing - river quite low, lots of fly life but not many fish rising. Took one beautiful trout on a small GRHE and in almost the same spot a 5lb chub that smashed a nymph on the surface just as it landed. Not what I was expecting.

Great day today. Cool start but warmed later. 2 taken on Parachute Adams and one on an elk hair caddis (sedge?).
Oliver Burch guiding- extremely helpful. Highly recommended.

Water level very low and some difficulty accessing the river due to land slips.

What a beautiful spot. Sunny with occasional clouds. Mild, no wind.
Long stretch of river with lots of interesting sections. Access involved a bit of scrambling in places, but was quite manageable.
As to the fishing... very little luck - 1 grayling taken on a hares ear in a very fast running section towards the lower end of the beat. Not sure where the trout were, we couldn't find them to see at all, and in spite of numerous hatches nothing seen rising... back to fishing school for us... but I would definitely return to this beat with renewed determination next time.

Absolutely stunning fishery- great looking river in amazing scenery. I must say though the amount of treefall in the water detracts massively from the experience. My estimation is 30/40% is totally unfishable. It almost seems like its deliberate the amount of trees blocking the water above the recording studio. This beat could be so much better with more effort put into it. My opinion is its not worth the money as things stand. This beat could be amazing but it needs a lot of attention.
(WUF note we hope to get to this over the winter)
