Hot sunny day. Good level of water. Badly overgrown banks. Will book a different beat in future.

Weather good, no overnight frost, water 8c, the Wye looked good, tried everything pellets, maggots and luncheon meat. The only bit/catch was a little trout on maggot. Where have all the chub and barbel gone? Will be back in July

1 Trout

Tough cold day after a few hard frosts this week. Moved around a bit but a 3lb chub saved the blank.
Fished a couple of swims upstream of the car parking area. Banks still very muddy.

1 Chub

1 barbel of about 5lb and 2 chub of 3-4lb. River looked OK, decent colour, maybe a bit pacy but the water temperature was very cold. Quite slow going, only 3 bites all day. Only 3 or 4 swims that are realistically fishable at the moment. Saw otters in 2 different swims at top and bottom of the stretch.

1 Barbel, 2 Chub

Started fishing at 11am, River was clear and high. Banks very slippery. Fished with halibut pellets to start, after a couple of hours changed to a bait I haven't used for years, luncheon meat.First cast had a typical barbel bite, but had a hook pull after a minute or so. Felt like a good fish, but they always do when you miss them. Nothing after. The only down side was a pheasant shoot on the other side of the river most of the day. Very loud.

Amazing day following an overnight frost, kept mobile and took 9 between 2 and 9lb, great way to sign off the year - Thanks WUF

9 Barbel

3 fished 2 blanked, 1 barbel lost in overhanging bush and 1 chub caught. River was dropping and looked promising but Hey Ho that's winter fishing.

River looked OK but only 1 Chub caught & 1 Barbel lost.

Fishing for Barbel, we had one bite all day (between us). The river was very high and very fast.
