A blank day. River a bit on the high side with a sunny morning and a bit difficult to hold the bottom. Stayed for a bit into the afternoon when the clouds arrived but very little interest. Lost one barbel but very few bites on this occasion.

Beat:Colonel's Water

Fishing:Winter Grayling

No. of Anglers:1

First time fishing Colonel's water and had an amazing day. Really nice beat with a good range of water suitable for both dry's and nymphs. Managed to catch my first ever grayling, followed by my second which weighed in at a pound and three quarters, giving a great fight on my light weight euro nymph setup. Unfortunately (can't believe I'm writing this) the beat is full of trout willing to take a nymph. Ended the day with 19 trout and 2 grayling with nearly all the fish taken on nymphs fished euro style. The deeper pools/runs were most productive with a couple of fish caught in the faster riffles. River was .053m on the Cilmery gauge and very clear.

19 Trout, 2 Grayling
