A very steady evening session on a low and hot river Wye. After walking the stretch we settled in some swims with the intention of moving later on. We had a couple of barbel before the rain started which scuppered plans of moving - the rain was much needed but wasn't enough to affect the current conditions. Biggest barbel was 8.8 and swam off strongly.

Excellent day considering the conditions. All fish fell to pellet feeder and at surprisingly regular intervals throughout the day but the Barbel really came on the feed during evening time.

Obviously the river is running very low and clear so would be hard work for an experienced river angler which I'm not! Good day out though, can't wait to come back after a bit of rain ☔ ????

A bright sunny day on a low river were always going to make this tough. Fished afternoon into evening and caught on both feeder and float.

The last day of our 5 day holiday was cut short by a heavy thunderstorm bringing some much welcome rain but making the banks very slippery. Good job we'd both had the foresight to take the rope and spike with us because of the forecast rain. Best barbel was an upper 8 (estimated) with a couple of nice chub of around about 4lb. All were caught using a feeder.

A lovely stretch in a great setting and loads of river if you are prepared to walk a bit from the car park which is at the upper end of the beat. Less active anglers have a number of established swims within a couple of hundred yards of the car park. This visit coincided with a long heatwave and very low conditions plus akgae/blanket weed making fishing hard. Not criticising or moaning as we have no choice but to deal with the river how it is. We decided not to fish until early evening and we had just 2 proper bites between us resulting in 2 barbel. In circumstances, we were happy with this out come and both fish were returned safely after a long rest in the net. We will return to this stretch as there is plenty of room for 4 anglers on this venue.

Another bright and hot day. Feeder fishing accounted for all the fish. Best barbel was estimated at 8+ with a couple of the chub close to 4lb.

Gratefully a bit cooler than the previous day. Feeder fishing was the only method used. In addition to the barbel an eel was caught. Best barbel was probably about 8lb.

First of a 5 day fishing holiday on the Wye. I've never seen the river so low and what was really noticeable was the lack of pace in the flow. It can't be a great time at the moment to be a fish in the river with the river crying out for some heavy rain to top it up. The best barbel was approx. 8.08. No fish were weighed to ensure the fish were returned as quickly as possible and care was taken during the release to make sure the fish had fully recovered. All the fish were caught using a feeder.
