Really tough day, lots of water pushing through still after the flood, struggled to hold bottom with 5oz leads. Decided to try a dead bait in a slack for the last couple of hours and managed snare a pike, lovely clean fish undoubtedly never caught before

River a lot lower than when I was here a fortnight ago. Temp a lot lower too, first attempt at wading had me freezing. The swim I'd plumped for gave two Chub type bites before eels starting munching my meat.
Moved and had 6 Chub on the float, sat behind bottom rod for last hour which was weird with a mass of rod trembling but only one further Chub to show for it.
Beautiful beat, beautiful river in beautiful country. Probably last trip this year but will definitely be back

Overcast day, about 12 degrees, river low but a little colour. Fish taken on pellet with groundbait feeder / lead plus pva bag. Excellent day with action throughout, chub to 5lb, barbel to about 8lb and hook pulls for two much bigger fish. Crushing!
Thanks to Stefan for some pointers, really helpful and knows the river inside out. The work he has done to maintain and make this beat fishable is amazing.
Don't be put off by some of the comments. There are loads of swims to fish from . You have to tread carefully in some but this is the UK, riverbanks are grassy, muddy and it gets wet. This is a stunning stretch of the Wye.

Mild, overcast morning which rose to 12 degrees quickly. 10.8 water temp. 0.5 on the RoW gauge, still a tinge of colour. 2 fished down the down the bottom with differing results one just a lost barbel and the other 6 barbel and 4 chub. Well done to PJ who's had a tough season so far on Wye. The one up the top only fished the afternoon but had a barbel and a chub and lost a couple. Fish on blackcaps and gb feeders with 10mm halibuts or boiliies.
A lovely autumnal day on a fab beat with LOADS of accessible swims well kept by Stefan, some with ropes and steps - he extracted a whole collapsed willow from a swim earlier in the summer. The very top swim has a gentle sloping bank and is accessible by anyone. It isn't a massive walk from the car parking either. For the rest you could bring a rope and dog spike to assist with what's there and fish a swim with steps. Great beat.
