Slight rise in river during the day and weed in the flow made fishing difficult in the morning but the amount of weed reduced in the afternoon. Best barbel was 8.05 and the biggest chub was 4.10 all caught on pellet.

Floating weed a bit of a problem but a pleasant day with 4 barbel and 4 chub plus a dace and an eel. Concerned about the amount of Argulus on the barbel and some chub which I can't say I have noticed in previous seasons. Hopefully when the water temperature drops they may disappear but they are leaving some red patches on the fish which can't do them any good.

Thrashed out a couple of swims in the jungle at top end of beat. Fish weren't really on it all day - a bit of action after 4pm but generally slow. River low.

No Salmon caught despite various methods. Tremendous amount of loose weed coming down the river which made fly fishing very difficult. Access to river below Parson Tree Stream almost impossible.

Good parking access to the fishery very close to the bank. Swims near the parking area and upstream to the beat limit were accessible but a bit disappointing, especially with the river being so low. Swims downstream completely overgrown and a real battle to get to even without tackle. Fished the last swim at the upper limit of the beat a deeper water pool which had been very well prepared with good access and features but a tackle grave yard with lots of snags. Between the two of us 5 Barbel to 8lbs 9 Chub to 3.5lbs and 3 eels.

Great days fishing in a lovely setting. Conditions were good. Took my Dad along who has never landed a Barbel and he was over the moon with is tally of 8 Barbel all weighing between 5lb 6oz - 7lb 12oz. He also had a 3lb Chub. I had 2 Barbel (5lb 12oz - 6lb) and 4 Chub (2lb - 3lb 10oz). My mate who came along late, caught a 1lb Chub and cooked up some lovely hot dogs! All were taken on hair rigged pellet or boilies. The only negative comment was there were not many accessible deep water swims. Saying that I will return....

8 chub, 1 barbel, 1 eel all caught on meat or pellet.
River looked really good with a small amount of streamer weed but that was not a problem. Not as many canoeists as we had expected but those who were out were very courteous and stayed well clear of us.

First time on this beat. Arrived 5am and walked the stretch. Started in the shallows with no action. Fished the only deep swim to have any flow on it. Had an eel first cast. Caught chub and barbel until lunchtime. Had the afternoon off, mainly due to leaving my water at home and couldn't sit in the heat with no fluids. Started fishing again at 5pm and caught steadily until I packed up at 9pm. Barbel were all a good size, 8-9lb. That's 63 barbel in 5 trips to 5 different Wye and usk beats, 3 I'd not fished before, but no doubles.

When we arrived the weather was overcast but warm and the river was low and clear so we were hopeful of a good day. 1st barbel was caught at 9:50am but although we were getting knocks they were very tentative. Just before lunch we were visited by a lot of canoeist kids from school then the heavens opened and the bites stopped. At around 4pm it got brighter and the bites came back, chub and eels putting in appearances, one eel being about 3lb. As the night came we got a few barbel 6-8lb and a few more chub up to 4lb all at the top off the beat just before the Goodrich stretch. A good day but hard going due to river being so low. There were 3 salmon in the top pool and in the Goodrich stretch, jumping about. Will be back later in the year to have another go. A brilliant stretch but had to pick up an empty meat tin from car park so please check you've got everything before you go. Leave only footprints, take only pictures.
