Extremely disappointing trip. I came all the way from South Yorkshire to find a river with hardly any water in it. I couldn't really fish in the morning due to a constant flotilla of canoes coming down the river and many of them crashing straight into the overhanging trees that I was trying to put bait under. After lunch time I got into the centre of the river and walked the stretch up and down trying to find deep spots with some fish, but to no avail. There is also a makeshift ramp on the gravel track to protect a pipe going into the farmers field which is poorly constructed and is too high and almost tore through the bottom of my car (twice, as I had to get back over it to go home). I never saw any fish or any signs of any fish in this stretch of river. All in all a completely disappointing journey which cost me a fair few quid to make.

Fantastic stretch of water and watched a shoal of barbel flashing in the fast, clear water but very hot and the fish didn't seem to want to feed. One chub and an eel as the sun went down was the best we could muster. Thank you WUF and my special thanks to WUF Approved Coarse Guide Adam Fisher for his help and advice.

River still low but a decent colour and flow. Lost a big barbel early on then took 3 pound barbel. Had a mid morning break as the sun came up as it was to hot to fish, then walked the beat. All pegs found were adequate. Starting fishing mid afternoon, very hot and bright sunshine but took a barbel of 7lbs, 3lbs 8oz, a chub and 5 eels up to about 1 pound. All fish fell to ground bait feeder and halibut pellets. Salmon seen jumping in all the swims we fished and 4 cormorants seen hunting the whole stretch. Beautiful stretch of river to be on.

Very hot and sunny day at mhc, river painfully low and needing rain. First of all I would like to say what a great job has been done to accessing the lower end of the beat. It always use to be a bit of a battle getting to the castle end, not anymore! Struggled to find any fish willing to accepted a bait. Ended up finding some in the peg at the end of the concrete track. Had six barbel 4lb to 6lb, strangely enough all caught between 3pm and 6pm, by far the hottest part of the day. Earlier in the day I picked up a few chub from the top of the "Rope". All fish were caught on either float fished pellet or free lined pellet.

Hot again and floating weed a bit of a problem but enjoyable fishing. Fish would probably have fed later in the evening if we could have stayed later.

Hot and sunny and low water but the odd fish through the day. Nice and peaceful stretch but the ramp over the water pipe on the approach to the upper car park needs urgent attention. Any normal car/estate car will bottom out however slowly you negotiate it. The tarmac/gravel ramp is worn away and your car will scrape the metal casing protecting the pipe unless it has high ground clearance.

A bit of a difficult day really. Caught a couple of barbel early and a couple more late on, in between it was hard work, despite moving swims and changing tactics. River low. There seems to be a larger amount of eels in the river this season, which I suppose is a good thing but it's hard to appreciate an eel when you have to unhook it!

Highlight was a 9.12lbs barbel to my colleague SC, a new personal best so well done mate. It looked like it should have weighed a pound or so more and probably will in a few months. A good feeding spell from about 4pm - 7pm, during which time we caught most of the barbel and a couple of inconvenient eels. River low with a little bit of colour.
