Lovely days fishing. Mild and overcast. Started off on the concrete slope halfway along the beat. Had to make two journeys so baited up with a handful of pellets and went off for teamaking stuff. Had the first chub before I could even get the kettle on. Moved down a bit later as it had gone dead, next swim down was better, quite a few bites with 2 more chub caught and 3 lost. My mate caught nothing upstream of the concrete ramp so he moved further upstream where he caught a grayling and 2 chub also losing a chub. I used peppermint all day and my mate tried maggots changing to pellets later in the afternoon.

Most enjoyable day at a lovely venue with my mate , only had three Chub and a small Barbel between us but that’s fishing. This was our first time on the Wye more used to fishing the upper Bristol Avon , will definitely give it another go while we both can.

A day of two halves and the opposite of yesterday. 3 barbel hooked and 2 landed before 8.30 am. 6lb and 7lb 2 oz. Magnificent fighters in the relatively strong flow. Most of the chub caught before 11 am - then very quiet until about 3 pm when a few more caught. Great fishing and scenery .

Strange day. Started at first light. Conditions perfect. Had a couple of good chub early and lost a decent barbel at the net. Then quiet until 2.30 and the chub came on to feed. Sadly no more barbel though. The guns were out and at various times it was like an artillery barrage. Celebrating Trump’s victory?

The banks are ninety nine percent unfishable and the amount of trees and other snags in the river on this stretch are unacceptable . Where are you supposed to put an unhooking mat

Fished hard all day, caught one pike about 12lb. Lost a huge fish due to it throwing the hooks, felt like a sack of cement when I tightened down. All I saw was a great big flash followed by my trace springing out of the water and then a huge boil on the surface. Unfortunately it wouldn't take another bait,..........the monster that got away.
