Had a great day on the wye, this is a great stretch of mixed flows, and quite a few pegs to go at.
The work that Stephan has put in to make the pegs easier to access is a credit to himself, he is also very knowledgeable about the stretch. Fish were caught on pellets over hemp and small pellets, a few fish were carrying injuries to their fins one having fresh claw mark's across its side. There is also a lot of goosanders along the stretch which I did try to keep moving, I don't know who to contact regarding this but one flock wasc15+ strong.
Again thanks to WUF and Stephan for all the hard work.

Mostly overcast with sharp showers, water temp still showing 17. The river came up a foot overnight which would be good, yeah? Not in the morning it wasn't! Soooo much weed was coming down that the tip would start to go round from it as soon as the lead hit the bottom. As well as big clumps of silk weed over the lead washed from bankside, I pulled out strands of ranunculus up to 5 foot long! The one barbel (7lb) I had in the morning came to a PVA bag fished just into the flow. I kept feeding and also tried bumping various big baits through on a light bomb but even though I knew the fish were there I could add no more before we met the other 2 in the pub for lunch. We fished below the fence and PJ didn't have a bite.
On returning Steve dropped into my swim, Mr P into Paul's and Paul went up the top (still with me?). I had one 4lb barbel in the swim below Steve plus 2 good chub on float from above the fence. Mr P had 3 chub on the float. PJ had 2 chub and an 8lb barbel. Steve, who had a bad run up to the last week, benefitted from my feeding (4s, 10s and meat), the swim resting and a slow in the weed flow (my report, my excuses) had 12 barbel ( 7 proper ones between 4 and 8lb) plus 3 chub from MY swim. Inquest in head conducted, whilst there were a couple of things I missed, I rang the changes and couldn't have done much more. Well done to Steve and despite missing out on the red letter day my recent barbel run goes on.

Lovely barbel at 8-10 for Paul which made the week.
A polite question though about this beat, why are the parking and driving restrictions so draconian please?
One of our number is 85 years old and we 2 are no spring chickens but we’ve made it our mission to make sure the old boy can do the business. To do that this week we’ve lumped his and our gear from top to bottom 3 times this week. I can understand that the owners don’t want people driving on pristine grass fields but the lower end of the beat is simply a track and surely parking isn’t a problem? Please think of us older boys when making the rules, a few concessions would be appreciated

Another tough day with lots of weed and not a lot of action. The barbel was a baby one from the fast water.
More top class angling from me with another belter of a barbel run resulting in nothing at the end of it, hey ho just one of those weeks
