Due to outrageous temperatures I chose to fish beat for a few hours at first light and the same amount of time before dusk.
Having walked the beat the day before I could see how very low, clear and sluggish the river was so I chose to go to bottom end in bubbly water and roll meat on the Centrepin, bite first cast then nice Chub of about 3 and 1/2lb on second cast followed by a Chublet in the next hour, I moved up a few swims but as sun rose I could visibly see Chub coming out of rivers main flow and hiding under the bushes!
Returning in evening I chose to fish the deeper top end of the beat and use the Pellet/ Feeder approach and just sit and wait ……….. about an hour before darkness the rod ripped around and a beautiful Barbel of about 7lb was landed !! It was my only bite!
Fantastic beat but horrendous conditions, all fish caught were unhooked and released without leaving the water!

Fishing Passport Comment : Thank you for this report but a polite reminder that anglers are only permitted on the property on the day you have booked.

very very hot day river low and clear 2 chub in the morning but had to wait till late in evening for barbel to show first barbel was about 7 - 8lb second about 7lb didn't weight them it was safer just to get them back in the river after a short recover rest in the landing net. river desperately needs rain/water as very low.

Fished just for the evening in the lower field. All fish caught on the feeder with krill boilies. The best chub was just over 4lb, the barbel was about 6lb.
