Very cold day -6 when I parked up. Needless to say no activity, but a glorious day, will try again when it warms up a bit.

The river was looking good after all the floods but the grayling were hard to find. We caught lots of out of season trout on heavy nymphs but the grayling were hiding.

Having tried to fish this beat twice before but the weather and conditions meant applying the wash off policy we were hoping for third time luck, no such luck! As the booking was coming to year end we gave it a go, heavy rain the day before again turned the colour to that of strong builders tea and the current was very strong making wading very difficult and in some places dangerous, so we abandoned the trip. Perhaps fourth time lucky?

Tough day but, to be fair, not as tough as expected with storm Agnes bearing down!

The river was clear and running nicely so was anticipating a decent day but struggled to find the fish! Was far too windy to euronymph so ended up on the duo all day trying lots of different nymphs and all 3 brownies were caught on a weighted pink tag thing. There was a 20 minute window of some regular rises but couldn't figure out what they were taking.

Great day in the end to wrap up the trout season despite taking my only fall of the year while rushing at the end of the session!

Single trout of approx 1lb otherwise little sign of life. Water was in perfect condition, thoroughly enjoyable last hurrah for '23

Not even a knock. Fished 5 until 8pm. So a couple of fish rising around 8pm but otherwise very quiet.

Your literature states that wading is "as easy as it gets on the Wye"

I'm afraid I disagree.

The riverbed has many large uneven rocks, and wading is difficult, even with a wading staff.

Good insect hatch but the trout didn't seem interested. Fished dry, to little avail. Retired to pub.
