A beautiful afternoon to be out here - almost summer. 10 trout to 15", all to PTN aside from the fish pictured which took a DHE during a very short lived spell of fish taking emergers. Mayfly around but not many obviously on the water and nothing taking duns in the afternoon. It's not the easiest fishing but there are fish in there - I probably lost another half dozen or so, including one pool near the bottom where I had at least 4 takes from different fish in quick succession but only managed to land one. I stayed at the Bell and at 9.30pm there was a cracking rise going on, although I wasn't getting a rod back out after dinner!

It was really cold and starting to rain when I arrived. I expected a tough day as the rain got heavier and seemingly the temperature dropped further. Surprisingly though,I had a productive day (by my standards), catching 10 trout, all on a blue-winged olive. Most were in the 8 - 10" range but two were in excess of 15" and lovely fish. This is a nice beat with good access. I will return.

Tricky day as water low and very few fish feeding on the top despite a fair few mayflies coming off. Enjoyable fishing nonetheless.

Pleasant day's fishing, a number of takes on dry fly but landed none.

A very sunny day with a gentle but quite cool breeze. Quiet in the morning but then fish started rising sporadically in some of the larger pools and responded well to nymphs and large mayflies. Activity increased over the afternoon. Most fish were about half a pound but the 2 largest were almost a pound and a half. Lots of dipper, kingfisher and grey wagtail action. All in all a great day.

A cold wet and windy day for early May. Very few hatches and one 8"WBT caught on a nymph. However, we had a few takes during the day and almost landed another two. A wonderful stretch of river, gin clear, good access and really easy wading.

Only fished until 11.30 as the weather broke. Water looked good but I found it very difficult to fish. Lost a lot of tungsten bugs on the rocky bottom trying to nymph it and could get nothing up to a nymph fished Klink and dink. Didn't see a rise all morning. Seems like a stretch that needs a good hatch and rising fish to give its best. But what a beautiful place in a stunning part of the country. I really enjoyed the few hours I fished and relish the challenge of a future visit.
