The river was coloured on my arrival but a few fish were rising as a few mayflies were coming off along with a few yellow may duns. Small olives were also in evidence. I caught all my fish on a size 14 parachute adams before lunch time when the rises dried up. I tried the nymph in the afternoon but with no further luck. I struggled to find the bottom of the beat and further directions would be helpful.

River coloured. Many Dancia spinners being ignored. Maybe should have fished early am?

A great day with good fly life, however, not a single rise seen all day from 12 through to 8pm. All fish taken on a size 14 black nymph.

Called in on my way home from a week fishing the Usk, was supposed to be a pleasant few hours fishing the Mayfly but only stayed an hour or so, very heavy rain all morning meant the river was colouring up and the banks had become very slippery so packed up and can home.
No fish but noticed a huge amount of very small upwings on the air, didn’t notice any on the river due to the heavy rain.

Heavy rain so only fished early evening. Not much fly life but took one 10” BT on klinkhammer. River coloured, hoping it will clear quickly.

Another very hot day. The river was in good condition , slightly higher than I remember . Bright sunshine all day revealed very few rises - less than 10 all day. Fly life was varied, the odd Mayfly coming off sporadically and falling back into the water although I did not see a single fish rise to the struggling fly. The only rises were splashy and seemed to be after something very small. Lots of sedges and midges and the long tailed brown fly (I don't know its name )
I persevered with the dry fly but did not catch a single fish. It was very hard fishing on a beat that has proved productive in the past.

We fished the afternoon and evening in very sunny weather. While the sun was warm it quickly turned cold in the evening. We caught four fish between us with few feeding fish visible. This is a beautiful stretch of water.
