Grand total of 5 LDOs seen despite some warmth in sun in the afternoon. Did not see a fish rise. River in very good condition but very cold and despite using every method was seemingly too cold for the trout. Beautiful sunny day though and enjoyed watching the circling buzzards and pair of sparrow hawks.

2 x grayling 7 and 15 inches, 2 x out of season trout 10 and 11 inches, bugging with braid. I lost a good grayling at the top end at dusk. Very hard work to get those, although the Monnow looked in just about perfect condition, which is rather surprising with the high water elsewhere.

Surprisingly the water level was quite low with just a tinge of colour. Started off wet and windy but gradually improved as the day progressed. Hard fishing but had a short successfull spell (approx midday) when landed 3 decent grayling between 1 and 1.75lb. All cheque nymphing just downstream from the brick barbecue.

Very cold air temperature, -8 ice forming along the still waters and on the ferrule's. The river fished well, many grayling taken mostly 10 to 12 inches. Good fishing but poor access.

Despite attempts to catch only grayling, I succeeded in just hooking up with trout. A very pleasnt day non the less and yet again this beat showed it's best.

Not the best day weather wise, and a bit hung over from a night out in Ross. Managed 2, 8 inch brownies and a small grayling. Beautiful spot will be back.

River, and fishing, suffered from tree felling on the Malthouse beat resulting in leaves and branches on and in the river. No rises until late afternoon when Pale Watery and olives appeared. Magnificent 12" trout and small grayling caught on Diawl Bach.

No luck, will try again, hopefully when the river is in better condition ....I really liked this spot. Stayed at Gentle Jane's in Grosmont expensive but good......and a welcoming local pub.

Tiny hatch clear water no fish caught but very enjoyable day. Useful to have such a good pub close by.
