Four anglers, swims steep with limited space so recommend taking a rope. Fishing was hard and previously have been able to drive to the top end, no longer allowed. One of us ventured to walk it and was rewarded with a single 3lb Chub, one of the few that day. A good location though as you can park neext to the river with a couple of adjacent comfortable swims. Fun watching the Kingfishers catching more than us.

No luck with float fishing, three chub succumbed to rolling meat tactics. Fished for four hours in beautiful surroundings.

Im fishing down Whitehouse for chub and barbel. But my main message is that two salmon just showed just infront of me.. About 8lbs each. The cheeky blighters must have known I was coarse fishing. Any way some on way up.

Whitehouse was the first day of our annual Wye pilgrimage 2024. Whitehouse parking and access difficult as ground exceedingly wet , meaning car parking was on higher ground by farm buildings. Very long walks to furthest points of fishery, so we went lightweight as possible.

On the day of fishing river level had gone up by over 1m to around 2.2m at Ross on Wye; in all we fished around 10 swims and could have fished another 4 but all were tricky to access , slippery and not chair friendly.

Fishing was good but hard work with 3 modest barbel and 2 good chub, for 3 anglers fishing from 8.30am until 5.45pm all on luncheon meat. River pushing through very hard and we struggled to find slack water.

We might come back to this fishery , hopefully when ground drier and we don't have to wade through plenty of farmyard manure to get back to our cars.

Very pleasing PB chub of over 6 pounds 4oz. A healthy fat fish. Fell to legered bread just off main flow.
One other chub of 4 pounds taken from a under near bank tree with a freelined breadflake.
Trotted maggots to no avail. I will definitely return in the summer.
It was nice to be greeted by Hugh, one of the farmers son who ponited out a couple of swims.
