Fishing:Winter Grayling
No. of Anglers:1
Decided to give my season an early start with our new summer in February, and i saw, my first of the year.... canoeists! That was about it I'm afraid. No fish seen or heard. Bit of waste of time really. Thought there would be some flies hatching during the afternoon but saw very few.
Would recommend allowing access to the top of the beat if possible. It's hard going to get there and likely necessary to go in the river, frightening any fish along the way.

We had a lovely day on the river, starting as the mist lifted into blue skies all day. The river was rather low and wading the first half of the beat on the bedrock was very slippery and uneven. We found it difficult, even as fit, thirty something year old's. There is some mention of spinning in the beat information which is then voided by the fact the beat is thankfully fly only - perhaps this could be updated. We fished through the entire beat for salmon and didn't move or see a fish all day. We spent the last hour fishing French leader and had several grayling to 12" long. I'd definitely fish the beat again in slightly higher flows, but wouldn't want to be in the Stepping Stones pool in high water!
Booking Office Note: Thanks for the feedback, we'll look into the beat description and make any necessary changes.
