Lovely day out on the Wye, had two nice trout to start on the dry. I then spent far too long prospecting, instead of switching to nymphs.
All fish were around 9-11 inches, all returned safely.

Gromain x 3 rods salmon
Very low , very pretty. At this height the sandstone gutters could be best fished with a Switch or 9' single handed rod .
2 shad of c. 2lb on # 10 stoat's tail.
No salmon or trout seen - needs about 4'' more....

Test drove a micro Spey trout rod but with the river conditions, a little 7’ stream rod would have been just as adequate. Almost all the fish took blue dun hackled wets on the droppers today and , surprisingly, there was very little interest in any fly fished on the point. Fish rising sporadically throughout the day but apart from seeing clouds of grannom now and again, I couldn’t make out what the risers were taking.
The others were a few parr and a couple of Shad which appear to have moved up in numbers now.

Shad and parr were the other. Hooked but didn't land two good trout on dry and nymph.
Looks like the shad have come up in the last week as none caught earlier this month.
My scoop net parted company with the magnet in the handle butt and floated off in fast water too quickly to safely chase after in waders. Keep it if you find it anywhere below Trerickett Bridge - a present from Swansea!

A good day with a huge varied amount of fly life including suplhurs, mayfly, grannom, stoneflies, olives, midge and brook duns. Two 1.5lb Shad were caught on nymphs and safely released. Fish were taken on a mixture of nymphs, small streamers and a lot on dries. DHE and comparaduns in various sizes and colours worked well. The wading was challenging due to the slime and weed on the boulders meaning two of us ended up taking an unplanned swim.

Mainly fishing the faster runs with team of nymphs.
The bonus was a 12" trout which came off the top to a light green bodied klink.
Good to see so many different insect species buzzing about over the water.
Other were two tiny salmon parr, returned quickly swam away well.
