Wet and windy. Nice rise at lunchtime, Pale Wateries and Blue Winged Olives I think. 5 bites to klinkhammer, BWO dries but none to hand.

Bought a Salmon permit, in case the rains came early, it didnt so fished for trout instead, caught and safely returned 17 brown trout, all on nymphs, fishing in a gale of wind and driving rain. Not the typical day one pictures when trout fishing on a river, but still had a great day, thanks.

5 reasonably sized WBT caught on gold head PTN and hare's ear. Fish rising in early evening despite heavy rain. Hooked several fish on CDC olives but did not get any in the net.
All fish returned in good condition.

Beautiful stretch, in the morning fished the upper part of the beat. It was very active, lots of fish, all around a 1/1.5 lb. After lunch started on the mid section, first pool but nothing happening - moved down to the crossing point which should have had tons of fish but nothing. Lower section, long deep pools - couple of large fish jumping but did not catch anything. Early evening went up to mid section and this was bubbling from the crossing point up - between the two of us we had approx 30 fish 1/1.5lb. Great sport but no large fish, even after a promise that it had been stocked with 2lb plus fish - overall a lovely day and great sport.

Enjoyed fishing from 10am to 7pm and caught 11 brown trout around 10 inches. Mostly cloudy with heavy rainfall around 4pm that stimulated the fish nicely and there appeared plenty rising in the evening after the rain. Used only dry flies, with parachute Adams working best, followed by daddy long legs, F-flies. All fish returned safely. This is one of the best beats on Usk as there are plenty of fish, easy access from parking to river, easy wading. Thanks WUF for providing this fantastic opportunity.

Autumn has suddenly arrived and the early morning and dusk temperatures have dropped. A lovely day again here with trout in abundance. I'm still lost for what they are taking. I had two bites from my favorite nymph, but nothing else. I must renew my strategy for next season. No sign of salmon. It's getting late in the year now. Maybe some rain will help.

A wonderful day's fishing: the forecast rain did not arrive and the weather was perfect, cloudy with sunny patches shining through. Most of the fish were taken in the big pool under the A40 bridge and the long pool just below the parking place, both of which, with the river at this height, are wadeable almost throughout their lengths. I took 1x 2lb or near, 4 lovely fish at 15/16", and the remaining ones were all 9 - 11 inches. All came up to the dry fly which in this case was a parachute Adams (16). The fish seemed to be rising all day and I fished from 10am to 5pm, still not reaching either the top or the bottom of the beat. This is a lovely beat with good access and relatively easy to wade.

A better day fishing for my brother who caught 6 x trout on a black klinchammer, the largest 1lb. I caught 2 trout on cats whisker. Chest waders are required to get to the fish.
