Perfect weather, sunny intervals and some cloud cover. Water in its bones but managed 2 gorgeous healthy WBT. One a pound and a half on Ballon Caddis in fast ripple. The second stalked and targeted in pool tail with rusty klinkhammer. Fab day.

Due to very low water, and a shortish beat,we struggled. This river need a good wash out.
One fish on a dry size 20 black knat, others on small nymphs under a indicator, top end of beat. Ptn on a 18 gold 2.5 mm Tunney bead 20 inches down.please let us have the rain soon.

Lovely spot. Fish rising and took one trout on dry fly.
However, extremely upset by instructions to drive down steep incline after turning left after lay-by gate. Gate at bottom padlocked with key lock! No way to turn around so had to back up steep hill with poor road traction. Am concerned that I damaged my car’s transmission or engine in getting out. If someone had said just park in the lay-by and walk, I would have happily done that (which is what I had to do anyway).
Booking Office Note: We apologise for this inconvenience - we've spoken to the fishery owner about this who is unaware of any keyed-padlock. We are looking into this further to ensure our directions are correct and appropriate.

Sadly the Usk was on it's bones, gin clear, bright warm day, no sign of any surface flies. We gave it our best shot and were rewarded with 3 wbt, all 5-7 inches. Joined by two paddle borders and we politely explained why they shouldn't be on the water. They were decent enough to pack up and carry their boards back to their car.

Hot, bright day. River was like a sheet of glass. Lovely scenic beat with one brownie of a 1lb on a dry (returned). Thank you to Allyson at the WUF office for continued advice and guidance! I hope to make another booking somewhere on the Usk later this year.

Hot and sultry day with few fish moving. Caught four smallish trout on nymphs and lost a better fish. Had one offer to a dry fly. Came off at 19.30 as wind picked up .
