A really lovely day on this stunning beat. River falling after Friday's rainfall but in pretty good nick with the little colour giving the fish some confidence. Did hope for a LDO hatch to happen, but no sign so kept to deep nymphing with some success. Managed 8 trout, biggest a slim 2lb fish which will be a lot bigger come summer. All the rest were between 1/2lb to a pound. So a good standard. Caught fish all along the beat, which I imagine could be fantastic when the fish are up in the water. Only fished till 1pm as had to do the Mother's Day thing!

Fantastic conditions quite a good number of fishing showing in the slower water. All fishing taken on nymphs apart from one on a dry.

Dry, overcast morning. Rain from 2pm until 3.30pm, quite heavy at times. Mild, AT from low 20s to mid 20s just before rain, when it became cooler. River very low, WT 14.5C. Not much activity. Occasional rising trout. Caught 6 up to 1lb 4oz on parachute Adams, gold head PTN and green nymph. Better fish not moving. Nice to see flashes of colour of a pair of kingfishers.

Extremely low water and river right down on its bones. The saving grace was colour in the water from what must have been an overnight downpour which brought fish to the surface all day. Rising to emerging up wings and small stoneflies. All caught on a size 19 barbless skinny CDC emerged. Best trout 1lb 8oz. No leviathans this time, but I will be back. Lots of kingfishers, dippers, wagtails and great to be on the water soaking in some fishing before the end of the season. Thank you WUF!

Glorious day on a lovely stretch but the river was exceptionally low. One resident salmon moved at the bottom end of Llanobery. Excellent brown trout in evidence. A quiet morning but fish moving in afternoon sun from 2pm onwards. Three BT taken and returned safely. Congratulations to WUF: a good website, an easy and efficient booking system and helpful staff when dealing with subsequent email questions. Th only tiny glitch is that one right turn is missing from the directions to the beat. All round good experience. Slightly disappointed with The George in Brecon but can recommend Roberto's close by for supper.

I used wet and dry flies and caught nothing - I had a couple of nibbles. The river was very low and I was fishing in the middle of the day.
For your general interest, I was fishing the night before on a friends beat on the Wye and caught eight small fish - one was a 1lb grayling. I went fishing at Ashford House yesterday and again caught nothing - same conditions but I did see some big fish from a high bank. Today I am fishing at Peterstone Hall on the Usk.

River very low. Sparse hatch of small olives. 11 BT caught and safely returned. Largest 18" (2.5lb). All on PT nymph variant. Great fishing despite difficult conditions.
What a pity it is to see Himalayan Balsam taking over on this beat. Also there is a serious algal issue downstream of the sewage discharge.

Spent all day on the river, lovely weather but no breeze. The long pools that constitute large stretches of this excellent beat were like glass. One trout, 12', on a para Adams.

Lovely stretch of water but very low compared to what I imagine it gets to. One brown trout but the fishing was very difficult. The weather very warm with not much flow from the area you park the car to the bottom pool. However, there were numerous large fish seen in shoals around 10am but I was unable to get down to the water without spooking them. Definitely will return on another day. A canoe was seen - I didn't think they were allowed when the water was low?
WUF Note: At current water heights the canoeist was in breach of the access arrangements. If you come across this please inform the canoeist of the situation (without endangering yourself) and report it to the Foundation, including details of the organisation if it is an identifiable group.

Water was very low and clear, and bright sunlight made conditions quite testing. Low water made wading relatively easy, enabling access to parts of the beat usually too deep to fish through. Most fish were caught on small nymph patterns, with black pennell and pheasant tails proving most attractive. Only one was caught on a dry pattern - a small elk hair fished through slower pocket water at the middle of the beat.
All fish were in great condition.
