A challenging day - very low and clear water, a chilly downstream wind and very little fly life.

4 Trout

Largest was 1.5lb and average of 0.75lb. Fantastic beat with a good hatch and great fishing. Will definitely return!

9 Trout

3 Browns caught around middle of beat. Largest one taken (approx 12") others returned. Nymphs and small goldheads, not too much on the surface. Love this beat, great variety of water.

One brown trout, water very low and a good down stream wind, fished 2 till 6. I feel l should have moved about more on the whole of the stretch to get the full benefit.

Wow a great day, but again not much rising so the nymph again dominated; duo dry with #20 nymph suspended beneath. An evening rise started at 8pm but sadly we had to leave. Some big fish about. Best today for us was 2.5lb but lost one well over 3lb, it turned twice to dries but did not take properly. Sadly some evidence of diseased fish. Someone needs to get the traps out, there is a plethora of mink on the upper end of the beat.

28 Trout

Wet fly used. Cloudy, wet weather. River remained at summer low throughout though increased by several inches over the course of the day. All trout returned.

4 Trout

River was low and clear ,weather became brighter as the day progressed. Managed to rise a couple of fish to an Adams and a Klink. Caught a 12oz on a black GH PT nymph. Saw a large family of Goosanders twice.

1 Trout

Under the expert tutelage of Oliver Burch, we caught about 15 trout up to 15" on spiders and Czech nymph. There was virtually no hatch, plus a cool north wind, making dry fly pretty hopeless, though the (often quite visible) fish were clearly nymphing. A varied and extensive beat evidently full of fish (including one salmon seen jumping).

Lovely stretch, river in good condition very sunny day fished morning 9-1 with no joy on dry flies. A few fish were rising to the odd hatch but could not temp them. Fished afternoon 5-9 caught fish on black tadpole style nymph. Saw salmon splashing at the bottom end of the beat and startled a very large brown trout that was lying in a small pool by the exit gate which inspired me to come back.

3 brown trout to 9" taken on wet fly. Conditions windy and cold with some outbreaks of sunshine. Very little movement of fish. River in perfect condition.
