Warm, SW wind though too much sun. Plenty of interest in a range of techniques. Eleven trout landed to 35 cm though one that fell off after the first run felt bigger. Some trout still carrying Argulus. Lovely afternoon's fishing for October.

Reservoir flooded and murky red brown. Found some clear water at a stream inlet and caught some good sized fish on variety of dark flies. Also had some success stripping back very bright lures quickly through murk.

It's good to have a decent wind to fish Talybont loch style but you can have too much of a good thing. Ex-hurricane winds brought a tree down blocking the road up from Talybont, made fishing very difficult at times and wave action muddied the water near some banks. But in the right places, trout were keen to have a go at the flies, especially the bob. I only landed five up to 14" but had plenty of other interest. Judging from some that came off, many were probably small. Fish in good condition though a couple still carrying freshwater fish lice.

It fished well but a good number of fish were thin with a few carrying argulus lice.

Just 1 small trout on a half-hog. The fish did seem a bit picky and there was nothing moving despite quite nice conditions. I rang the changes but to no avail. Another guy, clearly very experienced, had a lot more success in moving fish as well as catching several, primarily to a Zulu, which unfortunately I didn't have!

Had a loverly day at talybont reservoir, it was changeable conditions, sunny and calm one minute, but then quite windy when the cloud cover came over. The water lever is quite low, and the bank on the waters edge in quite a few areas is very muddy and soft, so be careful in some sections. The fish were rising in the morning when the water was calm, had one brownie near the old bridge supports, Then the fish stopped rising when the cloud came over and the water got choppy. Hooked and lost another brownie a few hours later in choppy water, then it went quiet for a couple of hours. Hooked my last brownie late afternoon near the west car park, in deeper water just off one of the spits of rocks that have been uncovered in the low water. All were hooked on a bibio fly.

First visit to Talybont , stunning location set in the Brecon Beacon.
Water visibly lower due to recent weather , a few fish moving with a light ripple on the water and plenty of cloud cover. Fished it just for the morning, 2 fish, both caught on a bibio. Wind started to howl which I thought would get them feeding, but the action seemed to cease when it really got choppy. Will definitely return, would like to see the water levels higher for the next visit , to get out of the mud on the water edge.
