Against Nathan's sensible advice, we tried fishing but the river was very coloured so visibility about 18 inches even though the water level had dropped to 1.18m at Redbrook so some marginal wading was just possible on a couple of pools.

It was always a big gamble with Redbrook at 20cm - need more rain and at least double that level really. A few fish at Cockpit but I fished the whole beat just to get to know it. Nothing caught.

Beautiful stretch of the Wye with good fly water even in very low water. Saw a few salmon throughout the day which kept up
motivation. Very knowledgeable, helpful ghillie Nathan. Will fish there again. Thank you

Water level between 1 and 0.9 metre above the Redbrook gauge and falling. Water cold. Rain shower over night. Over cast. Wind had changed downstream, yesterday was up stream. Weather started to become brighter and sunnier at lunch time. Got in the water early. Fished both deep and shallow. Different passes and used a dropped also. Unfortunately, nothing. But a good day. I will be back. Not a fish seen. Water coloured but clearing.

Water level between 1.2 and just over 1 metre above the Redbrook gauge and falling. Water cold. Weather bright and sunny. Got in the water early. Fished both deep and shallow. Different passes and used a dropped also. Varying the flies also. Unfortunately, nothing. But a good day. Nathan the Ghillie is useful source of information. Well worth the money. I will be back.

A challenging day of fishing, offset by the glorious sunshine. This was our second visit to the beat having had no luck back in April with super low water and blazing sunshine. This time round we had too much water (1.2m at Redbrook), heavily coloured and again blazing sunshine!!
Despite our best efforts we did not touch a salmon (nor saw any for that matter). Based off the positive catch reports further up river, our guess was that the fish were simply moving through and any residents were sitting tight in the poor visibility.
I did take a rather nice 1lb brown trout who rather ambitiously took a large tube fly!
I still think this is a great stretch of water and will be giving it one more try when the conditions improve.

1 Trout
