Tricky conditions with a lot of weed coming down the river constantly dislodging the leads. 2 peregrines over the river made a nice diversion.

6 Barbel, 2 Chub

A nice beat not always easy to find a good swim and after some rain can be hard going getting down to the water. Most fish from the faster water river low and clear all on meat and pellets, nice day thanks.

4 Barbel, 4 Chub

No fish caught. River bit on the low side.

I would recommend using the upper parking area (despite the overgrown brambles)if fishing by the bridge or islands as it's quite a long trek over several rikety stiles from the lower parking area. I was disappointed to find a very noisy generator/pump extracting water from the river. I understand life goes on and fishing is secondry to agriculture but never the less it did prevent me from fishing my usual swim. River was low as you would expect at this time of year. No Barbel to be seen, anglers on the opposite bank didn't appear to be having much luck either. A nearby pub by the upper parking provided a good evening meal and a place to drown my sorrows.

2 Chub

Hard conditions in the bright conditions but this is a lovely beat again. We found barbel in two swims but they were hard to tempt. We caught four on medium or large pellets. I rolled meat which got a couple of chub out.
NOTE. Most barbel we have had this week have had a few lice
on them which we have removed. They tend to be behind the dorsal fin and pectoral fins and can be washed off in the landing net whilst resting the fish in the margins.
The barbel can be seen 'flashing' as they try to remove them along the river bed and also leaping out of the water and crashing in to get them off too.
Good access to this fishery. The steps back up to the car are easier the more you catch!

4 Barbel, 4 Chub

A very low and weedy stretch at present but managed to find a little clear water. Five barbel in total 5 or 6 pound, banded pellet, on DH waggler.

Day two of our trip, a hot sunny day, much warmer than the previous day. Despite seeing several barbel flashing behind the islands only chub were caught. A barbel was eventually tempted below the bridge but the upper bridge pool produced only chub.

Nice beat found some fish in the fast water all taken on pellets towards evening the river was a bit low but in good condition thanks.

Salmon caught on the 17th march lower ballingum weighing 9lb also on the 9th June another salmon caught weighing 9lb both caught using spinner

First salmon for 15 year old James Downes, fishing with his grandfather - fresh run fish of about 12lb caught on purple flying bucktail (flying C variant).
