A good day's fishing for two of us at Foy Bridge, generally using rolling lead technique and luncheon meat. Although the water level was low I think the recent rain had refreshed it. Plenty of rock plateaux exposed but walkable to the runs. 26 chub to 4-5 lbs and 6 barbel to similar size, mostly in the swim about halfway down the beat I'd say - between two natural weirs. All but one appeared to be in good condition despite numerous lice. We hadn't seen barbel repeatedly leaping and flicking vigorously in the air before so wondered if this was trying to shake lice off.

River on its bones making fish location easier. A bit of streamer weed which was nice. Love this short boundary with accessible swims though rope still useful if you are on your own. Basically wading and waggler using hemp/corn for the chub and had 1 barbel on it- 2' deep! Spotted some barbel in a slightly deeper gully with faster water and had another 3 beautifully conditioned barbel to about 7lb on meat in fairly short succession. Canoes about -lots grounding but fish don't seem to mind them as good dace rising all day - surprised only had 2 on corn on a 14. Saw some lovely dace plus chublets and fish i could not identify upstream from the bridge on the upstream side - could they be shad? The dace were flashing all the time as was a shoal of small barbel on the downstream side - beautiful to see. Lots of wildlife - about 20 kites in a group in the morning and egrets/herons walking the far bank shallows.
Beautiful day - pleasure to be there.

Fished just for the evening. With the low water levels at the moment there is only one swim which looks worth fishing so we shared a single rod in that one. Plenty of fish there though and we had bites almost every cast on the feeder. None of the fish were particularly big - the barbel was a baby of about a pound and the best couple of chub were about three and a half.
