Evening session, ideal conditions, all fish took from a wading position mid river to large pellets, the covering of what looks like blanket weed across the riverbed is not something I've seen before and doesn't bode well, it is everywhere.
Get involved before we lose this exceptional river and its wildlife.

Great days fishing, river and weather were perfect and caught throughout the day. Fish caught on meat, pellets and bread. No monsters but Babel between 4 and 6 lbs and Chub 1.5 to 5.5lbs. Great sport !

Very enjoyable day on this beat. Caught in the fast water at the bottom of the stretch and the slower water nearer the bridge. The overcast conditions and a bit of extra water no doubt helped. The 3 others were eels.

River looked good but another slow day with the barbel. Just one bite and a fish of c.6lbs+ in mid-afternoon. Moving swims and changing bait brought no change. Chub were more obliging - plenty of bites; many missed. Catch was mostly small fish but a couple of three-pounders among them.

Arrived to find most of the forest of Dean floating down river. Mass of debris in the water making impossible to put a line out and the water level meant that the majority of swims were not accessible. Fished on the far bank below the bridge to start but after a few hours gave up as conditions bad. Moved back to the roadside and found in the last swim i could fish sitting on the steps. Had a 6lb Chub fishing slightly down stream about a road length out just behind a tree. Had 3 more over 4lbs over the next couple of hours. Then after a 30m run down the centre lost a barbel after which it when quiet. Had a couple of hours sleep and had a good evening with 6 more Chub all good fish mostly between 4.5 to 5.5lbs and a consolation Barbel of 5.5Lbs. River level dropped 12ins during the day and conditions were nice by the evening.

The river was falling after the weekend spate but still plenty of flow and a bit of colour. Started in mid afternoon with an early chub and had a very welcome barbel around 17.00 followed by another about an hour later, which snagged me irretrievably. I fished on until 21.45, but with no sign of more barbel and increasingly heavy rain I called it a day. However the chub were of a good size up to 4lbs+. All on feeder and pellet or meat.

River higher than normal with the brown (chicken) colour and no weed but good flow and not much silkweed. On my own today as friend could not make it. End swim cleared using leatherman saw on the willow branches but only produced small chub on floatfished corn and meat so moved back towards the bridge and found the big swim with nice steps blocked by a huge fallen willow branch. 10 minutes with the leatherman and access to this lovely comfortable swim was possible. Feeder with meat and pellet down the middle produced 4 nice barbel and 5 good chub and forays on the float down the same line with corn produced small chub and one good dace, Only 1 eel on meat. Lovely stretch , great steps. How long will it last with this water problem. Write to your MP.

River low. 3 chub around 4lb and a barbel about 6lb on legered pellet. A number of chub from 4oz to about 2lb on trotted bread flake. This is a short beat but there are there is a variety of swims with access down steps. a nice peaceful stretch and a pleasant day.
