River exceptionally low and has been fished hard by others over the last few days. Today was made all the more difficult by bright sunny conditions despite the forecast for cloud. I toiled in the bottom swim, left bank, from morning until mid-afternoon without any joy. Moved up to a small section of deeper water just down from the bridge and finally landed 3 chub (4-5lb) and a small barbel circa 3lb. All fish took small cubes of meat and were in tip-top condition. Met the owner who imparted useful advice for my next visit.

3rd day of a 3 day visit to the Wye, first 2 days on How Caple Court were difficult. 1st time on this venue and what an introduction. Perfect weather, heavy cloud most of the day. Started 1st thing on the far bank 2nd swim and had a 6lb barbel first cast, nothing further for the next 2 hours so moved to the road side bank and fished the last swim below the rapids. Caught chub and barbel consistently for the rest of the day.
Finished up with 5 barbel (best of 8lb 12ozs) and 8 chub (best fish of 4lb 4ozs). All fish caught on feeder tactics with pellets. Fantastic days fishing.

Fished from 11 ish on a clear sunny day. Great for scenery, not so good for fishing. Trotted for a few hours and could catch lots of really small stuff, but nothing worth mentioning.
Like many other reports, things picked up around 4.30 and after a couple of missed bites landed a decent barbel of about 5 lbs, followed by a small chub. Both on meat, and both from the roadside bank, where there was less flow and deeper water.
First time I've fished the Wye, so difficult to comment on conditions, river did look a bit low, but very clear water.

We decided wading and trotting would be the best option, chub and dace fed most of the day and a Grayling was a bonus. Just as the sun was setting a 5lb 7oz Barbel was tempted by my free lined luncheon meat. A lovely way to end a very enjoyable weekend.

A great day trotting a large thick speci waggler with carp pellets and meat cubes. 20 chub from 2 to 4lb caught wading in just above the white water at the bottom of the beat. Fish came steadily throughout the day but fed more aggressively when there was cloud cover. Plenty of smaller chub and Dace graced the net and then at last knocking whiskers put in an appearance to end a terrific day. Approximately 7lb of hard fighting perfectly conditioned Wye Barbel.

We arrived at this lovely beat to find the water very low and clear. The bright sunshine did not feel us with much hope on our first visit to the Wye and we decided to trot with maggots after no success with the feeder. Difficult conditions meant we only caught 5 good chub but plenty of Chublets and Dace made for a very enjoyable late afternoon and evening.

Other = dace + 2 perch.
Both anglers spent most of the day trotting or free-lining sweetcorn from the bridge end but were unable to locate any chub or barbel and if we switched to maggots we caught dace. Jim fished for an hour off the rocks on the faster stretch using rolling luncheon meat and caught 1 chub.
We both agreed the beat owner is an absolute star and now we now have more idea how to fish it we will book this beat again.
