Another good day but again not enough swims . There were 2 cars in car park . ( the upper end stretch) so I walked to left and there was only 2 swims for 500 yards . That’s where 2 anglers were . So I walked all way back and went right . Only 3 fish able swims . 2 were cattle drinks and were in a right state because of cattle ( understandably) so I was forced to
Fish 3 rd swim , that was horrible . But what choice did I have
5 lbs barbel chub to 3 lbs . Eels to 2 lbs

River very low due to hot dry spell but not as clear as you would expect it to be. Usual swim choices were un-fishable due to being so far above the water level so not an ideal stretch in low conditions in my opinion.

All fish caught had lice to some degree so tried to clean them as best I could, as quick as I could.

An enjoyable day all said and probably bagged the best swim on the day but not seen the other returns yet.

Wished I had avoided the temptation now... not great conditions with high temperatures, bright sunshine and a painfully low river.

Fished multiple pegs with different methods for no great reward, my only decent fish came from wading the fastest flowing part which resulted in one ugly chub on rolling meat.

The river was in a sorry state - low, stagnant in places with a greenish, khaki tone and a soupy gloupy mush covering the stones. In some places it looked totally devoid of life with no weeds, insects or birds and definitely no fish moving.

Access is great and work has been done to make the pegs in the wood accessible. Pity about the fly tippers on the car park mind...

I'll be back later in the summer no doubt.

Nice surprise to find someone had been down and strimmed some of the swims, unfortunately the fishing was hard and we only managed three small chub.

High, fast and coloured water. Strengthening wind. Access to fishable swims hard to find. A chub each saved the day.

Conditions looked good, river was coloured and rising. The fish just weren’t having it . Caught a chub first cast and then remained biteless throughout the rest of the day despite trying numerous different spots
