Another evening on the Lugg - the last this year, the evenings are drawing in already! Again not much surface activity....one pod of rising grayling yielded a nine incher and much more excitement as the rest kept coming and missing the fly....
Last knockings a fish crunched in a streamy run which turned out to be another Lugg beauty - about 8 inches - but that was our lot. Lovely evening to be out though.

Despite being low the water was very cloudy/milky for some reason, with nothing rising. Only a very limited amount of the beat is really accessible, so a disappointing evening.

A couple of hours in the evening. Found a decent fish feeding in an open area and he nailed my d/h caddis first cast, interesting few minutes keeping him out of the weed, 16inches! I’m guessing at the water there could be lots more and bigger here. All other fish between 7-10 inches. After fishing and crashing through the undergrowth In bare sleeves, I suspect I have brushed past Japanese Hogweed, I have quite a few suspicious rashes that aren’t looking to good, long sleeves for me now on.

The day was very windy, so no fly hatches and no rising fish. Only fished for a couple of hours, nothing seen. Note that this beat is very overgrown - much more than in previous seasons.

All on dry fly. Perfect conditions....warm, overcast, not too windy, water slightly above normal height, very clear. Olives hatching throughout the day.

Half decent day considering the blustery winds, so made for the pools on the bends for some shelter and fished Klink and dink. All fish apart from one fell to a GBGRHR, thankfully I didn’t lose it as it was the only one I had in the box. Must make some more.
A few more mayfly about than last week, but these fish still haven’t switched on to them.
Thanks to the Wye and Usk Foundation.

DC and GC fished today, the water was quite clear and at a nice height, the banks as mentioned by another angler are becoming overgrown so access is not easy, however if you can get to the water the occasional fish can be caught. This day the fly hatch was sporadic with very few mayfly and no surface activity, possibly due to the bright sun. All in all though a nice day on a pleasant beat.
