Very cold, intermittent snow. Water was coloured with poor visibility, only one fish seen - rising amongst a knot of branches in the thickly wooded part of the beat and impossible to reach. An attractive stretch and looks worth returning to when it's warm. The map may need updating as sheep fencing means that there is no access to much of the Southern bank. This isn't really a problem though as the river is so small.

Nothing caught or seen. River running very fast and quite high. No sign of fly life as cold and windy in morning. When the sun broke through mid afternoon we thought things might improve but all hopes dashed as for some reason the water started running brown which really spoilt what might have been a nice afternoon.

River running fast and a little high but not to bad a colour, weather fine but cool. Unfortunately as weather warmed up in the afternoon someone upstream of Eyton must have been working on the river as it started to run very coloured and made fishing a total waste of time, I wish we had known this was going to happen as we would have saved our money and holiday for another day!!!!! Needless to say nothing caught or seen.

Full up river with lots of colour, access to wade very limited. It was out with the heavy nymphs, success, one small grayling after a couple of hours. A good day.

After nearly a week of damp but not drenching weather, I took a risk that the Lugg would be at a fishable level. It wasn't, by a foot or two, unning fast, somewhat coloured and carrying a lot of leaves and debris. As if that wasn't enough the wind had come strongly round to the North and biting cold. I blanked after three hours effort. No discernable takes as the flotsam coming down plucked at the weighted hot-spot nymphs I tried. To think I even tied a couple of dries the night before! Oh for a 2oz lead and a bunch of lobworms! Still this Eyton water gives plenty of clues that it's a quality flyfishing beat when the conditions are friendly. Note to management: the 'stile' toward the bottom of the beat is derelict and impassable unless your atop a Grand National runner. The one at the top isn't much better and the path there to the end of the beat is overgrown and barely navigable. Don't visitors ever get to these extremities?
WUF note - Our volunteers will be addressing many access issues and overgrown undergrowth over the coming Winter months.

3 x WBT all below 6". Missed 4 more, all to K'hammers. Difficult within wooded areas, otherwise an excellent location on probably one of the best days of the year for weather.

Water was quite low and not many fish seen. No success with wet flies but noted a couple of rises which proved successful - two nice brownies about 12 oz each, taken on a black ant with white wing.
Wind became too much of a problem on my light tackle after midday and decided to call it a day. Lovely stretch of water - crystal clear and easy wading.

Very windy all day. Little fly and few rises. LN Tenkara-ed and DC fished conventionally. Had just a dozen fish between us, mainly grayling to about ten inches. Fish mainly taken on PTNs. Surprisingly disappointing fishing in the dubs in the woods where some more clearance in the upper part of the wooded section would help on a number of fronts. Access there far better than it was a year ago though!
