Following rain on previous day/night Lugg was coloured with visibility of about 1 foot or so but it fined as the day passed. Started to fish at 12am at lowest weir, gentle SW breeze, intermittent sinshine. Spotted, and caught, first trout on Grey Wulf. Caught and rose fish steadily until 5.30pm when river went quiet despite fall of spent mayfly and vast numbers of olives. Should have stayed for evening rise but we were satisfied with catch and were hungry! Total 7 trout to 14 inches, 1 grayling of 12 inches all on Grey Wulf.
Stayed at Horse and Jockey, Knighton good room and food, not ideal if complete peace and quiet is required as busy town pub. Wye & Usk booking, info' and directions all spot on. Superb. Thank you.

2 WBT and 6 OSG caught and returned on a fair day (17 degrees) and overcast. Mayfly were hatching. 2 WBT lost estimated 1.5ibs from lower weir section. WBT were taking dry (olives) and nymph PTN; all OSG were caught on dry, olive Klinkhammer with white post. River in good condition with plenty of water running through - some sections coloured while other sections gin clear. Small issue with family walking their dogs and allowing all 3 in the river - beat ok after 1 hour rest. Great river still not fished all sections. Seen a number of WBT between 1.5-2lb mark

3 trout caught and returned on a fairly cold evening (15 degrees) and overcast. Mayfly were hatching but the fish were preoccupied with the nymphs and largely ignoring dries and spent flies. river was slightly coloured and reading 1ft 2in at the gauge and falling.

A wonderful day on the Lugg. Nice beat to keep you busy for the day. Mayfly were everywhere but possibly as I'd never fished in Mayfly season or inexperience (or just the hot weather), I only managed some missed bites and the fish snapping my line. (I'm sure that one was a monster trout).
Friend had same experience with one nice trout and quite a few missed bites.
Day was saved by landing my biggest ever grayling at the end of the day (about 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 pounds)on a tiny ptn. All lots of fun on a 3 weight rod.
In short, nice beat would go back.

Conditions similar to Lyepole yesterday. Water high and carrying colour plus a stiff north-easterly to boot. Despite this, I fell in love with this beat, particularly the lower meadow section. Fishing was hard and no trout were caught but patient searching with deep nymphs produced 8 grayling mostly in the 8-12inch range plus one corker measuring 16ins. Beautifully maintained, the lower two-thirds of this beat would be perfect for anglers who may struggle in more difficult terrain.
