Only 1 angler made it fishing today! Didn't miss much. River in good nick - colour and dropping. Spent most of day trying to catch chub and dace on big stick to no avail, although kept entertained with trout and grayling. Fished last couple of hours on feeder with pellet but no knocks. Fished about 50 metres short of wood.

First time we have fished this stretch. A beautiful spot which looks like it has bags of potential. Am keen to take another look at it under different river conditions so will be paying this stretch another visit or two.

Wind blowing and the river pushing through. Plenty of debris so very hard conditions. Only managed one Chub.
A really great 2 days on the Wye. Thanks

Coloured, dropping river. After hard rain and first frost, first and second fields below Orchard have great swims, top area in woods, very disappointing, none fishable.
Should have done better, will do on next visit.

Two chub to 3.5lb, river high and powering through, lots of under water debris and fishing was very difficult.

Lovely days fishing. Weather was rather nice to start with but river started to rise while we fished which made things more entertaining! We targeted the barbel using a combination of running lead and feeder tactics. The feeder scoring better. I fished a 3oz feeder with a 3 foot hook length. Size 10 CBS carp bait specialists trident hook and a trimmed 14mm dumbbell CBS river monster boilie. The feeder was packed with CBS fish meal ground bait, pellets and hemp. I had 4 barbel of 7lb 5oz, 7lbs, 4lb 8oz and 2lbs! All in pristine condition. My fishing partner caught just the one of 5lb 8oz and lost another. We found the beat to be clean, plenty of lovely swims to chose from and directions to the venue were spot on. Thanks for a wonderful day out and we both look forward to visiting again very soon.

River levels looked perfect. Tinge of colour. Pellet took the first couple of chub, maggots the other 4 as well as those pesky trout. All fish returned unharmed. A great day on a lovely stretch.

River had risen slightly following the heavy rain of the past few days. Fished the middle of the lower section - amongst the cows - but the increased flow brought down a lot of weed and falling leaves were beginning to make life difficult. Moved to a swim out of the main flow avoiding most of the debris and managed 1 trout, 4 chub up to five pounds and 2 barbel, the largest just over 8lbs. Fed hemp and 4mm pellet and caught on hair rigged 10mm pellet.
