The river was a bit low but still great to be back on this beat which is one of my favourite fisheries. We spent most of our day fishing the lower meadow section and the Chub were obliging but the Barbel were elusive. A very enjoyable day though and we will come back when the conditions are more favourable. Thanks W&UF.

6 chub, largest around 4lb, 1 small barbel about 2 lb. All immaculate fish caught in a beautiful setting. Fished upper part of the beat in faster water. Agree with some of the previous comments regarding difficulty with access but I also like the wildness that brings. Thank you for the opportunity of fishing such a fantastic stretch of river.

4 anglers fished. Plenty of small chub on the feed throughout but Barbel all from one swim.
Similar conditions to the previous Monday. Still a nice day fishing. Let’s hope for some much needed rain.

Fished the downstream fast water section. Started really well with a barbel and non stop chub. To the feeder. Then bites dried up. Saw a few barbel under the the really overgrown middle section bankside tree line but just no way to cut a swim to get a bait to them. Very frustrating. My fishing partner ventured further down near a cattle drink. & was accosted by a number of over curious cows. Which had him scampering back. All in all an interesting day.

Weather conditions and low clear water in sunny conditions made fishing difficult. Like many of the Wye and Usk stretches there are not many places to get in.

First time on this beat. Total of 4 anglers spilt above and below the orchard. Low water so expectations not high but pleasantly surprised to catch fairly consistently from about 15:00 onwards. Biggest Barbel 8lb 13oz and Chub to just over 4lb.
Tricky beat to negotiate but rewards are there to be had.

Same old whinge, bankside dangerous and virtually inaccessible. Tried to find the orchard swim, seems its lost forever somewhere in the undergrowth!!
Don't believe it's the passports responsibility but that of the landowners. Each and every beat I visited, I had to spend at least an hour cutting back long overgrown vegetation before being able to commence fishing but on a more positive note, fishing great as usual.

All fish returned in professional manner. Method used was open sliding cage feeder and long hook link. River condition was at a low level but good flow through the centre.
