A great Sunday on the Wye. Got to Sugwas court at about 11am. Fished marine halibut boilies over a feeder. Action started about 4pm and fish came regularly until dusk. Four Barbel over 7lb the biggest being a 9lb fish. Two smaller Barbel of 3lb and 4lb. A small chub of 2lb late in the day.
Enjoyed my day very much.

Only had very limited time to fish it mid day. Had one chub from the fast shallow end, nothing from the Orchard side.

Fished afternoon til dusk in the mill pool swim which had a nice depth as the river was low, watch out for a hidden snag to the right of swim ,snapped out on it a couple of times, cast a little more left. Had 4 barbel, 2 chub and lost a couple on pellet and feeder tactics. Nice stretch in lovely surroundings.

Decided to fish a couple of swims in the big field below the orchard after a slow start we started to catch a few fish by mid morning Continued to catch odd fish for the rest of the day even during the sunny afternoon. Had some notable barbel including fish of 9lbs 14 oz and 9lbs would certainly fish this beat again

River surprisingly low and cold overcast conditions made for hard fishing. The single barbel was about 5 to 6 lbs and in excellent condition caught on smallish hair rigged halibut pellet off the rocky shoal in the downstream section.
We chose Sugwas because of the ability to get a vehicle close to the bank section above the orchard. However it proved impossible to fish in this area with generally very steep high banks and the path through the top wooded section is impassible to traverse even without carrying fishing gear.

Arrived at the beat early afternoon to a bright and warm day. Tried the top end of the beat but the bright sunshine wasn't doing us any favours. Moved down to the bottom end of the beat and fished pellet and bomb/feeder catapulting in freebies.
Biggest barbel was 9.14 with them getting bigger in succession picking off members of the shoal. A lovely beat with lots of buzzards and kingfisher activity.

Only fished for just over an hour due to urgent work requirements. From what I saw of the beat it had plenty of good looking swims etc. and would love to return. The fishing that I did do was tough due to the fast flow, meaning that 4oz feeders barely held.

Arrived at about 4pm for an evening session with my daughter for her first river Wye trip, nice beat and looked in good nick. Couldn't get two of us on the preferred faster water in a peg so settled on a wide peg opposite the big houses with the annoying dog. Fished 3 hrs with only one bite which powered off down river and somehow shed the hook. Disappointing for me and gracie but would make an earlier start the next day in hope of catching a few. Plenty to go at here so will return.
