4 Trout

Not ideal conditions today with the nagging easterly and cloudless skies. Though after a slow start ,with surprisingly few offers before 1.00pm, things picked up in the afternoon.
Most of the trout came to top dropper medium olive wets.
Fished right to the lower boundary, but didn’t encroach onto the beat below as I inadvertently did last time out.
Apologies to the Llangoed owner. Note to Self. Read the beat map updates in future.

11 Trout, 1 Grayling

Fished for 2 days. Fly only. Bright sunshine, river just below a meter on the redbrook gauge. Lovely beat, plenty of holding spots, just no salmon in them, or anywhere else it would seem. The beat could do with some ladders and more entry / exit points.

Fierce sun all day, and very little sign of fish, the only regular riser being out of reach in water too deep to wade clear of the bank side trees. One pull and one hooked briefly.

A tough day battling the wind and harsh sunlight. Managed to get six browns between 9-12 inch on various wets and dries (emerger patterns)

Couple of hours evening fishing. Lovely spot. 1 small WBT.

Some lovely sized trouts but the roach or tench (small fish with spikes on their backs) were a little frustrating to keep catching and a little fiddly to return...

River was low and very clear, with bright sun all day. Took a couple of fish Euro nymphing on the heavy point fly in the deeper water, two more fishing a small olive nymph on a dropper under a dry, and a couple on a rough olive dry fly. Olives and March Browns were trickling off all day but the only consistent hatches were in the bubble line on the true left at the top of the beat. Plus 4 long distance releases.

First time on this river,went to the lower end.seem very acceptable caught 2 both quite small but lightening takes,great fun.
Will be back soon another great wild stream
