After a trudge through long grass at the bottom end, we found 2 swims that looked good. I settled in the upstream one which the late Frank Barlow would have described as a parrot cage and PB in the one below. Well my action was nil but I enjoyed the wonderful wildlife I heard, buzzards, pheasants and a green woodpecker but the highlight was a kingfisher which did a u-turn in my swim passing a couple of feet away from me. Magic! Meanwhile PB was catching well. He eventually had ten barbel and two chub. I had a couple of barbel and two chub from his swim while he a breather! All were caught on feeder with pellet on the hook. The river is low and very clear and the fish appear to be gathering in the deeper areas, you just need to find them. We fished from late afternoon till dark and enjoyed the session.

River is very low, even lower when I fished the same area last year. There were some barbel and chub visible but they seemed uninterested in feeding. Eventually caught a 7lb barbel and a small chub. Fished in the meadow near the roadside parking, no cows to contend with this year. Thank you Wye and Usk Foundation for the chance to fish such a lovely stretch of river.

The river was lower and clearer than we have ever seen it, so we didn't have high hopes for a bumper day. We managed to get a few out on the usual pellet/corn/meat and feeder tactics. Great to be back on the Wye though and a very enjoyable day.

Thank you for your quick response when I reported that other people were fishing. The land owner came to see us and said he would putting up fishing notices. So hopefully this will put an end to the problem.

Sunshine and heavy showers were the order of the day. The river again low and flow minimal. Had to resort to smaller baits and hooks to get a bite which even then were tentative. Managed three barbel to about seven pounds and two eels, all to small ellips pellets and feeder.
