Fished from 7am until the rain started, didn't have a bite. It's a good beat just wasn't my day. Tried float fishing and ledgering, probably could have managed a few if I'd stayed but chickened out due to the foreboding weather forecast. The tree blocking the path could really do with being removed.

First visit for me to the Wyebank stretch. Making my way to the bottom of the fishery I fished a 4 gram Alloy Avon to trundle small cubes of meat with hemp and mixed pellet as feed.
I managed 7 Chub averaging in size between 3-4lb with one or two getting on for 5lb.
A move back upstream and a switch to a Speci Waggler in the shallower water bought me my only Barbel of the session around 4lb in weight.

Fantastic beat , easy parking at the top of the beat and compared to other beats I have fished the access to the bank is fantastic ,with a private path leading down to the water and a public footpath running alone the top of the bank. As for the fishing it was a mild autumn day with low water levels, fished standard pellet and paste with a ground bait feeder and had an amazing day with 16 Barbel to 5 pounds and 5 chub to 4 pounds. Nothing big but a fantastic day's fishing, this was my first trip to Wyebank but I will definitely be back.

Nice stretch very easy to find and good access to the river. Fishing was ok, livened up in the evening. Be prepared to lose tackle it’s extremely snaggy, fished the pool at the bottom of the stretch biggest fish was a barbel of 3/4lbs.

Started the morning trotting pellets at the top of the beat, this produced some excellent spot resulting in 13 barbel and 3 chub in 2 1/2 hours.
After the cloud cleared and the sun came out I decided to have a wonder rolling meat again with brilliant results with another 10 barbel and 6 more chub all taken in the top 2/3 of the beat.
Left the river for a few hours to have some lunch and a little rest after a busy morning. I returned around 3pm and decided to get the feeder rod out and fish the bottom end. Fished the usual ground bait and pellet approach and again the spot was mega. Ended the day with 50 fish all in the 1 1/2-4Lb bracket, although nothing big what a brilliant days fishing. The only negative I could say about this beat is the lack of bank side maintenance.
Thanks again wye and usk for the opportunity to fish this wonderful river.

CT - 5 Barbel and 2 Chub - biggest Barbel about the 5lb mark. A much tougher day today than last Tuesday the 13th, as we had the first night time temperature drops marking the end of summer and the start of autumn - into single figures for both Sunday and Monday night.
AW - 2 Barbel and 2 Chub

Easy parking, and easy access down to the first stretch of the beat. A felled tree blocked access along the bank to the second stretch, so required walking along the road and then down the public footpath and then a scramble down a steep bank to get to it. Fine if you are mobile. It would be good to get rid of the tree ... but some flood water will no doubt sort that out if and when it ever comes. A very pleasant day trotting a float down, and although the kayaks were plentiful they were all very polite (if not skilled). Might have been difficult if I was trying to use a feeder; between 1100 and 1400 there were probably a couple of hundred people went past, but it didn't seem to impact the fishing at all.
Chub up to about 5lb, most around the 3lb mark. Barbel all in the 2lb to 3lb range. "Other" were dace.
All fish in superb condition. Never caught grayling before; they all needed a good amount of reviving. The barbel in comparison shot off !
5 Grayling, 21 Barbel, 29 Chub, 5 Other
